History made with Mark Mulder win at American Century Championship
Submitted by paula on Sun, 07/16/2017 - 4:38pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 28th annual American Century Championship is in the books, and former major league pitcher Mark Mulder won for the third straight year, the first three-peat at the celebrity golf classic at Edgewood Tahoe.
Mulder and his wife Lindsey once again brought their three kids to Lake Tahoe, all who ran out to the 18th green after Mark finished the day with a three-day total of 73 with the modified Stableford scoring.
New zip line to go through treetops in South Lake Tahoe this summer
Submitted by paula on Sun, 05/14/2017 - 6:22pmThe Silver Rush, a new 4,159-foot long zip line opening this summer at Heavenly's Epic Discovery, will take users from tree-to-tree at speeds up to 40 miles per hour. Overlooking the Carson Valley, Silver Rush is comprised of five segmented zip lines; the final of which flies guests over the waters of East Peak Lake.
Once the ride is completed, guests enjoy a scenic ATV ride back to the top of the Gondola. It is a three-hour long experience.
Heavenly aims to connect 2,000 area children to the outdoors

Heavenly Resort unveils new rock climbing wall

The permanent climbing wall was unveiled to the public today and adds to the resort’s expanding offerings of summer activities, like ropes courses, zip lines and tubing.

This new experience is designed to appeal to a wide range of visitors. It includes zip line and tree canopy tours, an alpine coaster, a mountain bike park, multi-use trails, ropes courses, and interpretive and educational tours to teach visitors about the Lake Tahoe Region’s cultural and environmental resources.

After Vail Resorts gained approval from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) on March 27, they needed the blessing of the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Board, which they received today.

With it, comes a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities for locals and visitors alike. Epic Discovery will include new zip lines, sky cycle tree canopy tours, a mountain bike park and trails, ropes courses, and interpretive and educational tours to teach visitors about the Lake Tahoe Region’s cultural and environmental resources.
Epic Discovery Project and illegal tree cutting on next TRPA board agenda
Submitted by paula on Wed, 03/18/2015 - 9:22pmIllegal tree cutting at a South Lake Tahoe hotel and approval of the Heavenly Mountain Resort Epic Discovery Project are just two of the agenda items for the next Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) Governing Board meeting.
The TRPA board meeting will be held on March 25 at the Chateau in Incine Village and on March 26 at the agency's office in Stateline.
Vails Resorts reports 95% increase in second quarter income

Vail operates real estate, ski resort and lodging segments including Heavenly, Kirkwood and Northstar Mountain Resorts in Lake Tahoe.
Vail Resort's net income was $115.8 million for the second fiscal quarter of 2015, representing a 95.3% increase compared to the same period last year.

County Supervisors holding 10/28 meeting in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Thu, 10/23/2014 - 9:34pmSouth Lake Tahoe residents will have a chance to see the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors in action on Tuesday, October 28 as they have their meeting on the east slope.
Many topics pertaining to the South SHore will be on the agenda.
The South Lake Tahoe Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan will be presented by a consultant team. A vote will then be taken on whether to approve the plan and start the environmental review process. Those costs would be split with the City of South Lake Tahoe.

The resort just celebrated a year of independence in April 2014 and is putting into place a management structure that throws away the corporate mold, and invests in the resort’s front line -- its staff.

Heavenly Mountain Resort's proposed Epic Discovery Project will be featured at an open house hosted by the U.S. Forest Service on Thursday, September 18.
The resort wants to expand year-round activities to include zipline and skycycle canopy tours, a mountain bike park, a ropes course, water activities, hiking trails, mountain excursion tours and nature interpretation. Heavenly is also proposing to create a snowcat emergency evacuation route for the gondola line.

The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) will hold an open house on Thursday, September 18, 2014, to explain and answer questions about its draft analysis of a proposal from Heavenly Mountain Resort. The resort has a 40 year lease to operate on national forest lands and now wants to expand year-round, non-skiing activities at the Lake Tahoe resort.

The new project, located at Heavenly Mountain Resort, will expand their summer activities to include more canopy tours, hiking and biking trails as well as interpretive activities.
Since 2011 the U.S. Forest Service has allowed more summer activities on national forest lands.
