Kudos: Vail Resorts Retail adopts a day at Bread & Broth

A very energetic and outgoing volunteer team from Vail Resort’s Retail Group joined the Bread & Broth volunteers to donate their time to serve the April 11 evening dinner at St. Theresa Grace Hall. With funds provided by the Vail EpicPromise Grant program, Heavenly Mountain Resort sponsored the Monday meal and had Retail Group Store Managers Ryan Olm, Heather Searcy, Amy Grannick, Josh Bastille and Marcie Canale team up and participate in the evening’s dinner event.

Volunteering at Heavenly Mountain Resort’s 2/22 “Adopt A Day of Nourishment” dinner, Kyle Hayes was very excited about his time spent helping the B&B volunteers and serving the evening’s dinner guests. “Having the opportunity to serve the community alongside the Bread & Broth volunteers was an amazing experience for all of us,” he said. “To feed citizens in need; to share a conversation and positive experience, is something that always leaves a lasting impression.”

South Lake Tahoe fifth graders learn how to snowshoe at Heavenly

Through a new educational program spearheaded by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and other basin partners, Lake Tahoe Unified School District students are taking full advantage of winter to learn about avalanche safety, winter animal survival and the science of snowmaking.

Thanks to the generous Vail EpicPromise Grant program funds awarded to Bread & Broth, 12 Monday evening meals are served annually through B&B’s “Adopt A Day of Nourishment” program. On a monthly basis, Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort alternate hosting a dinner and sending a sponsor volunteer crew to work with the B&B volunteers to provide a hot, nutritious meal and “giveaway” bags to South Tahoe Community members dealing with food insecurity.

Dan Deemer, a member of Kirkwood Mountain Resort’s Guest Services team, was one of the sponsor crew volunteers who came to help at Bread & Broth’s dinner on Monday, November 2nd. After spending time on the serving line dishing out generous portions of chili and pizza, he took a moment to jot down his views on his time spent at Kirkwood’s “Adopt A Day” dinner. “The opportunity to directly give back to the local community is extremely rewarding,” he wrote. “The appreciation of those who are in need can be seen in their smiling faces.”

The “Adopt A Day of Nourishment” sponsor for Bread & Broth’s dinner on Monday, September 14 was Kirkwood Mountain Resort. Through its sponsorship, Kirkwood provided both the funding for the meal and sent a hard working sponsor team that thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to help serve the community.

Heavenly and Kirkwood announce 2015 EpicPromise Award winners

This week, as part of the first EpicPromise Week, Vail Resorts will present the first ever EpicPromise Awards to two Heavenly or Kirkwood employees for their ongoing commitment to strengthening the local community and fostering a sustainable environment. The EpicPromise Awards are being given at Vail Resorts’ mountains across the country as part of the first annual EpicPromise Week (April 6-10, 2015), a full week dedicated to celebrating Vail Resorts’ widespread commitment to creating a more promising future for generations to come.

Vail Resorts honors 49 local non-profits during EpicPromise grant giveaway

As part of their mission to give back to the community and protect the environment, Vail Resorts gave away 49 grants to Lake Tahoe area groups during a ceremony on Tuesday at Heavenly Valley.
