SLTPD honors and promotes during National Police Week
Submitted by paula on Sun, 05/20/2018 - 9:32pmThe South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) held the annual awards ceremony Thursday, honoring the retirement of K9 Tara, the promotion of Jeff Roberson to Sergeant, awards for bravery and for service.
The celebration was started with the National Anthem sung by South Tahoe High School senior Caroline Krolicki and a presentation of the colors by the department's Honor Guard.
Transient arrested after man stabbed at South Lake Tahoe bus stop
Submitted by paula on Sat, 01/27/2018 - 10:19pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF -A transient man is behind bars this evening after allegedly stabbing a 27-year-old man at the South Y Transit center.
At 5:33 p.m. Saturday, officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to a call of a stabbing at the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd and Emerald Bay Road.
Upon arrival they found Kiefer Chriss, 57, being held down on the ground by some Good Samaritans and a 27-year-old male stabbing victim.
SLTPD: Gunshots, chase and knife lead to arrests of two transients

First South Lake Tahoe baby of the year born on January 1
Submitted by paula on Sun, 01/03/2016 - 11:44amWhen the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Day, Rogelio Castañeda and a very pregnant Margarita García gave a New Year’s toast with a glass of champagne and a glass of apple cider, respectively. Three hours later, after a brief slumber, Margarita woke up in labor.
The couple headed to Barton Family Birthing Center and at 6:36 p.m. on January 1, Jeremy Nicolas Castañeda García was born. Jeremy weighed seven pounds, eleven ounces and was 20.5 inches long. He was named after Margarita’s mother Geremia, who passed away when Margarita was young.
South Tahoe Chamber holding mixer at Elements Spa

The South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce is holding their October Mixer at the new location of Elements Spa located upstairs of Fitness Evolution, 2565 Lake Tahoe Blvd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20.
Meet April Vadnais and her staff while enjoying complimentary refreshments and Hors d'oeuvres.
Elements is also located inside the Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge.
Elements Day Spa to celebrate second location inside Fitness Evolution

Elements Day Spa, a full service day spa and retail shop, will introduce its new location and services to the public during a grand opening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3. The new location is inside of Fitness Evolution at 2565 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Owner April Vadnais will provide complimentary chair massages, along with raffle prizes, refreshments and appetizers. Tahoe Chamber will officiate a ribbon cutting during the grand opening.
South Lake Tahoe bike trails to receive snow removal in pilot program
Submitted by paula on Mon, 01/12/2015 - 9:54pmDue to a lack of snow in South Lake Tahoe, the new bike path snow removal policy has yet to be put into action.
While snow plows are deployed when three inches of snow accumulates on roadways, there was never a policy to determine when snow would be removed on bike trails.
This winter the City has launched a pilot program to include snow removal on Class 1 bike paths as a secondary feature, after roads and City buildings, during a significant snow event.
