Local youth ages 5-19 can participate in 4-H virtual projects

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Head, Heart, Hands, Health. The 4-H Youth Development Program offers many fun and educational activities for its members and it is now available for youth in the South Lake Tahoe area.

Learn how to preserve fruits and vegetables in South Lake Tahoe classes

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The UC Master Food Preservers are presenting two classes at the local library this June in food preservation. Teachers will be explaining each step of canning, dehydrating and freezing as methods of preserving fruit and vegetables to use throughout the year in your family’s meals.

The first of the fruit and vegetable preservation classes will be Fruit: Preserve It; Serve It class on Monday, June 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the second will be their Vegetables: Preserve & Serve class on Tuesday, June 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

UCCE Master Food Preservers to teach canning at SLT class

Curious about safely canning your own food at home? Whether you’re looking to stock your shelves with food basics or you want to make gourmet pickles and dessert sauces, learn why and how canning works. Homemade jars of shelf-stable food with ingredients you control and can pronounce are a treasure for busy people who need a quick meal after a busy day.

Attend the next class presented by the UCCE Master Food Preservers of El Dorado County at the SLT Library on February 11 from 1:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m.
