Clearer picture now for November's elections in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/18/2016 - 7:33amDeadlines for candidates interested in sitting on four local boards and councils have come and gone for most of the contests, so there is now a much clearer picture on the November elections.
There are now ten people interested in sitting on the South Lake Tahoe City Council. With a deadline of 5:00 p.m. on August 17, the last of the candidates submitted their paperwork just under the wire.
Lake Tahoe Community College celebrates soccer programs' successes
Submitted by paula on Wed, 12/09/2015 - 11:21pmWhen Nick Arbelaez moved to South Lake Tahoe with his fiancee Stephanie Shamo, he was taking the Assistant Soccer Coach position at LTCC and she was headed to Barton Health.
After Head Coach Ben Wade and LTCC parted ways mid-season, Arbelaez stepped in as interim head coach, leading the Coyotes to the final four for California Community Colleges.
At Tuesday's board meeting, Arbelaez was introduced to the trustees along with
other coaches and volunteers that have helped both the men's and women's soccer teams have early successes in the young programs.
Land swap to make way for new South Lake Tahoe trail

The Lake Tahoe Community College Board of Trustees, the City of South Lake Tahoe and the California Tahoe Conservancy will soon be voting to swap land they own around the college so the South Lake Tahoe Greenway Shared-Use Bike Trail can be built between Bijou Community Park and Sierra Tract neighborhood.
Dr. Frederick Wenck honored for 41 years of service on LTCC board
Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/07/2015 - 10:52amDr. Frederick “Fritz” Wenck, a longtime local dentist and Board of Trustees member for Lake Tahoe Community College for 41 years, was recently honored for his service by the Community College League of California. During their Annual Trustees Conference last weekend the League honored community college trustees with 20, 30 and 40 years of service from around the state.
Dr. Wenck was the only trustee to be recognized for four decades of commitment.
LTCC library to be renamed the Roberta L. Mason Library

Election picture clear with all candidates now known
Submitted by paula on Fri, 08/15/2014 - 7:28amWith the filing deadline now passed, the list of candidates for South Lake Tahoe City Council and City Clerk, South Tahoe Public Utility Board and the Lake Tahoe Community College Board of Trustees is now known. These positions, along with the El Dorado County Supervisor for Area 5 will all be voted by local voters on during the November 4.
40th Anniversary of Lake Tahoe Community College Celebrated

For 40 years the Lake Tahoe Community College has been providing higher education for the community, and its successes and growth were honored in a ceremony Wednesday. Community members joined college staff, board members and students at the original location of the college, 2659 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, which is now the home of the Econo Lodge.
