Free chipping service for city and county residents
Submitted by paula on Tue, 07/18/2017 - 5:17pmResidents of South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado county, Fallen Leaf Lake and Alpine County are encouraged to take advantage of the free curbside chipping service offered by the Lake Valley Fire Protection District (LVFPD).
The free service will be offered through October, weather permitting.
Homeowners can work on their defensible space by removing limbs and slash on their property, then the chipping crew will come by and collect it, then convert into wood chips.
This action reduces flammable vegetation and helps homeowners protect their property from the threat of wildfire.
Lake Valley Fire chipping away at Emerald Fire scene, offers free service to all County residents
Submitted by paula on Wed, 10/19/2016 - 3:53pmThe Lake Valley Fire Chipping Crew, along with members of Calfire, have been cleaning up the area burned by this weekend's Emerald Fire near Cascade Properties.
All El Dorado County residents not within the City limits can also take part in this service until October 28. The program will end for this year after that day and resume in Summer 2017.
To take part in this free service, call the chipping crew at 530.577-CHIP (2447).
Free wood chipping day for South Lake Tahoe residents

The Lake Valley Fire Protection District's Wildfire Prevention Program has organized a FREE chipping day for City of South Lake Tahoe residents on October 18. With the help of the California Conservation Corp and cooperation from South Lake Tahoe Fire Department, residents can get help with defensible space and slash removal.
In order to participate in the chipping service, homeowners must follow these guidelines:
• Place slash and brush piles adjacent to a driveway or street so the chipper crew can readily have access.
Fire Awareness Week at Lake Tahoe kicks off with activities, film series

The focus of the week is to promote homeowner and resident actions that reduce the risk from wildfire to homes and communities.
