Submitted by Editor on Sat, 12/10/2011 - 11:41amThe holiday arrived early for 27 South Lake Tahoe non-profit organizations Thursday, Dec. 8, as $100,000 in charitable contributions was distributed on behalf of LIVESTRONG® and the American Century Championship by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.
“We’re fortunate to have the support from LIVESTRONG, NBC Sports and American Century Investments to assist to the local community,” said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the LTVA in a news release. “In addition to an outstanding event which attracts visitors, our 22-year partnership also helps local groups in need.”

Electronic equipment and river monitoring devices were damaged or destroyed. Two logs were found to have graffiti sprayed on them, saying "Stop Golf" and "Save the Park."

Tahoe planning agency to look at Homewood plan; Upper Truckee river plan removed from agenda
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 11/28/2011 - 5:18pmThe Tahoe Regional Planning Agency will hear plans on the Homewood project on the west shore but has scrapped plans to discuss the Upper Truckee River Restoration project during a two-day meeting of the Governing Board.
According to a news release, the Dec. 14 agenda remains unchanged and includes a proposed adoption of the Final Environmental Impact Review and Environmental Impact Statement for Homewood Mountain Resort. The meetings are on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Granlibakken, and Thursday, Dec. 15 at the TRPA offices.

The Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act of 2011, which was signed by President Barack Obama on Nov. 7, is estimated to create and annually sustain up to 600 extra jobs nationwide.

Edgewood Companies plans summer opening of Bonanza Park

Edgewood acquired the C&M Lodge in order to reuse the associated Transient Occupancy Units (TAUs) on its new Lodge Project at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, according to a news release.

Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $886,861,912 for the month of August 2011, 6.10 percent decrease compared to August 2010, when licensees reported a gaming win of $944,457,344. Gaming profits in Stateline in August 2010 were 23,518,599.
