The 18th Annual Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe Golf Tournament raised $39,614 during the Oct. 17 event held at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, funds which will support various programs for area kids. In addition to 120 players, the event raised money through sponsor donations, raffle tickets and a silent auction.
“Our sponsors and the players are the reason we can continue our efforts to help local kids,” said Karen Houser, the BGCLT executive director. “Edgewood Tahoe donates the course so every dollar raised goes to the Boys and Girls Club. The tournament wouldn't be possible without our corporate partners, hole sponsors, local business who donate prizes, and the individual players.”
Jon Hetherton, long time Tahoe local, was the grand prize winner of the tournament raffle. Hetherton won a golf trip to Las Vegas with lodging at the Embassy Suites and golf for four at Bear’s Best, a Jack Nicklaus design that features 18 signature holes from Nicklaus courses around the world.
Players received a round of golf at Edgewood Tahoe, the area’s most spectacular course and site of the annual American Century Championship, as well as three meals, drinks and prizes, auctions items and perfect weather. Players had their choice of Best Ball or Scramble format, with prizes awarded in both categories. In addition to $10,000 for an ace on all par 3s, each golfer had a shot at the Grand Prize Golf Vacation.
