Overwhelming support of South Shore Community Revitalization Project at TRPA meeting
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/01/2018 - 10:55pmSTATELINE, Nev. - A standing room only crowd was in the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) board room on October 25, 2018 for an updated presentation, and plans for the next steps, of the U.S. 50 South Shore Community Revitalization Project, commonly known as the Loop Road. It reroutes Highway 50 from its current location in front of Heavenly Village and the casinos to behind Raley's, the Village Center and Harrahs Tahoe.
Harrahs Tahoe and Harvey's to start paid parking program Saturday
Submitted by paula on Tue, 06/12/2018 - 2:50pmHarrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe announced today that they once again have a paid valet and self-parking program this year, beginning on the first concert date of the summer, Saturday, June 16.
Parking rates will run $20 for self-parking and $25 for valet parking with both cash and credit cards accepted for payment, and will run this summer on days and nights during major special events and peak holiday periods at both Stateline, Nevada properties.
Truck breaks axle as towing cars through South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Fri, 04/27/2018 - 5:37pmMany thought the smoke and back up off traffic in front of the casino corridor Friday was the result of another underground explosions, but this time a truck and trailer were the culprit.
Tahoe Douglas Fire responded to the call of heavy smoke on Highway 50 between Harrahs Tahoe and Harvey's.
Two rigs carrying the vehicles were in the westbound lanes when one of them lost their rear trailer axle. There was a resulting brake fire that blew out a tire according to Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Eric Guevin. He said it was very smoky but a "minimalistic" fire.
Local man faces long road to recovery after being burned in engine explosion
Submitted by paula on Thu, 04/26/2018 - 10:18pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The man burned in Wednesday's engine explosion on Kingsbury Grade has been identified as Ronald Svetlik of Stateline. He is currently in critical condition at the U.C. Davis Burn Center with third degree burns over 30 percent of his body, including his scalp, face, eyes, lips, hands, palms, arms and legs.
International Magician of the Year heading to South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Fri, 12/16/2016 - 12:09amRob Lake has performed his illusion shows all over the world, and now he'll be bringing his show over the holidays to the South Shore Room at Harrah's Tahoe from December 22 to January 7.
The 33-year-old Norman, Oklahoma native told South Tahoe Now he's never been to Lake Tahoe before.
"I'm really, really exited," said Lake.
Lake caught the magic bug as a 10-year-old when he saw a magic show with his family. "I knew immediately then and there I was going to be a magician," he said. Lake said most of his training comes from the school and public libraries.

The Weight is a tribute to The Band and features former members of The Band, the Levon Helm Band and the Rick Danko Group.

South Lake Tahoe Community Job Fair to be held

Due to popular demand, community job fairs will be held on both the North and South Shores of Lake Tahoe this spring. Last year's Tahoe Job Fair was held at Squaw Valley and over 1,100 perspective employees attended.
In a joint effort between Harrahs and Harveys, the Lake Tahoe Sustainability Collaboration, Professional Ski Instructor's Association and the American Assocition of Snowboarder Instructors, the Tahoe Regional Community fair will be held on the South Shore March 31 and on the North Shore on April 1.
Caesars denies another request from second-level bond holder

For the second time in two weeks, the casino operator rejected a demand from an unsecured second level bondholder for payment of the obligations.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday, Caesars said BOKF N.A. asked for payment on $750 million in debt plus interest. Caesars said it turned down the payment demand.

To get the free buffet, present your Total Rewards Card and military ID to the buffet cashier. If you don't have a card, stop by their rewards center to get one.
