South Lake Tahoe Real Estate Figures for June 2012
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 07/09/2012 - 11:25amIt appears that the recovery trend of real estate in South Lake Tahoe is continuing, based on figures just in for the month of June. Closed home sales saw a dramatic increase, both over last year's sales figures as well as those from last month. In June of 2012 there were 81 closes home sales, the highest figure in over 6 years. If you break apart the figures and look at sales in the different price ranges, the homes which sold at $300,000 or less saw a 54 percent gain in sales over last year.

Tahoe Keys house fire knocked down
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 06/30/2012 - 11:34pmSouth Lake Tahoe firefighters responded to a house fire early Sunday morning in the 2100 block of Venice Drive. The fire call came in at around 11:55 p.m. and was reported to have started in the bathroom, possibly by an electrical heating lamp or device. When firefighters arrived, smoke was visible around the roof area. The fire was knocked down at 12:25 a.m.
The occupants inside the home evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The $3.5 billion in taxable purchases in April were buoyed by double-digit gains in several major categories, including construction; up 16.1 percent, merchant wholesalers-durable goods, up 10.2 percent; and motor vehicle and parts dealers, up 10.5 percent.

As the five-year-anniversary of the Angora Fire just passed, it was a fitting volunteer effort from this out-of-town group.
Early morning structure fire knocked down

The fire was reported at around 2:45 a.m. Firefighters on the scene reported that flames moved from the deck to a small space in the attic. No one was reportedly injured and the occupants of the home were evacuated. Lake Valley Fire Protection District personnel reported the fire knocked down at 3 a.m.

Face animal cruelty charges if you leave your pet inside a hot vehicle

According to Henry Brzezinski, Chief of Animal Services, if the outside temperature is 80 degrees or higher, temperatures inside vehicles can climb to 120 degrees or more within ten to twenty minutes, even with the windows opened two or three inches; heat stroke, irreparable brain damage and death can follow shortly thereafter.

The Center for Disease Control estimates that 2/3 of the American public are obese and that childhood diabetics, asthma and cardiovascular risk factors lead to adult morbidity, diabetes and significant psychological impact on the obese children. Rural Economic Activity Boosts Nevada Taxable Sales By 7.2 Percent In March
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 8:15pmCARSON CITY — Nevada’s taxable sales jumped 7.2 percent in March over March 2011, but the state’s two largest urban counties showed more sluggish growth, the state Department of Taxation reported Tuesday.
Taxable sales totaled $3.9 billion in March, driven by Nevada’s rural counties where large energy and mining projects helped boost the numbers overall. For the fiscal year to date, statewide taxable sales are up 7.5 percent.
