SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just moments ago, the Greater Sacramento Region, of which El Dorado County is a part, was granted authority by the State to exit the Regional Stay At Home Order, effective immediately. This is based on the State’s four-week projection putting the region’s ICU capacity at 19.1 percent, above the 15 percent threshold announced last month.

Bridgestone NHL Outdoors Saturday will showcase the Colorado Avalanche and the Vegas Golden Knights on Feb. 20. Honda NHL Outdoors Sunday will feature the Philadelphia Flyers and the Boston Bruins on Feb. 21. Both games will be broadcast at 3:00 p.m. ET on NBC in the United States and on Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada.

Law enforcement prepares for possible New Year's Eve crowds on South Shore

With no SnowGlobe this year due to the pandemic, and Heavenly Village New Year's Eve activities canceled, it is unknown as to what will take place in an area that at one time saw 50,000 people in the streets to bring in the new year. Last year it was estimated 7,000 to 8,000 people took to the streets at midnight at Stateline and 6,500 at Heavenly Village for its 9:00 p.m. fireworks.
Airbnb to cooperate and not allow new reservations in Truckee or El Dorado and Placer counties

From December 28 through January 1 the vacation home rental reservation platform said they are blocking guests from booking in Placer County, El Dorado County and the Town of Truckee.
Town of Truckee votes to adopt urgency ordinance for lodging to keep community safe

Any hotel, motel or vacation home rental in use during the Stay-at-Home order can now face the revoking, suspension or denial of their Tourist Occupancy Certificate.
The Stay-at-Home order states lodging properties are to not be rented to anyone except essential workers in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

They told the vacation rental booking company that their help is needed to stop the spread of COVID-19 and asked them to not allow rentals in Truckee and the California side of Lake Tahoe during the order which is through at least January 1.

The Sacramento Region, of which South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County are part of, has dropped below 15 percent availability in the ICUs across the region, prompting the new order. More than thirty million people in California now fall under the order after a deadly surge of the coronavirus has crossed the state.
Stay-at-Home orders for El Dorado, Alpine counties and rest in Sacramento Region

The order has gone into effect because the Sacramento Region, of which South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado and Alpine counties are part, now has staffed ICU bed availability under 15 percent.

South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County not under shut down orders, yet
Submitted by paula on Thu, 12/03/2020 - 5:53pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With a surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, California Governor Newsom today issued a new regional stay-at-home order as an "emergency brake" to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
This order goes into effect in regions with less than 15 percent ICU availability. At this time, the El Dorado County does not fall into that group but it could be a matter of days until it does. The county is part of the Greater Sacramento Region which is at 22 percent capacity as of Thursday.

El Dorado County moves to next reopening tier Sept 21 if COVID-19 cases remain low

The County started off the new color-tiered reopening plan in the Red/Substantial tier due to data from the weeks of August 5-11 and August 12-18.

There currently is no ordinance that covers shared rentals as the current VHR ordinance addresses the rental of an entire dwelling for a period of less than 30 consecutive calendar days, Shared rentals deal with renting less that the entire dwelling on a short-term basis.

State of California travel bans still in place, even as El Dorado County lifts their order

The messaging is confusing as local orders are lifted, and state orders are still in place.
The action by the County does not mean that travel into Lake Tahoe Basin is all of a sudden okay though.

Decision expected in May on status of major Lake Tahoe events

The holding of the American Century Championship (Celebrity Golf) and 4th of July Fireworks for this summer is expected to be determined mid-May.
Incline Village/Crystal Bay leaders announced their fireworks were going to be canceled earlier this month, but the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority (TDVA) board will be voting at their May meeting on the 2020 South Shore display.

In a 3-2 vote, the commissioners approved bond issuance, the final step in the approval process. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) had previously unanimously approved it.

Residents are asked to stay in their homes as much as possible to prevent further spread of the coronavirus. Only essential business and essential travel is permissible by the order.

California Governor Newsom issued a state-wide Stay at Home Order on March 19, 2020, which bans all non-essential travel, including staying in accommodations in Lake Tahoe.
Sales tax revenues increase in South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County

The quarter ending September 2019 shows the County's taxable sales in the unincorporated area grew by 4.3 percent when compared to the same period in 2018. In South Lake Tahoe, taxable sales grew by 6.0 percent. County-wide including both cities within its boundaries saw a 5.1 percent increase. In comparison, the Sacramento region was up 4.5 percent.
SnowGlobe and guests contribute 213 nights at Tahoe Warm Room; Make strides on waste reduction

SnowGlobe 2019 was able to successfully expand their sustainability program, non-profit, and charitable giving initiatives, they said in a report released Monday.
In 2017, SnowGlobe began its partnership with The Sugar Pine Foundation, planting 200 sugar pine seedlings to help restore Lake Tahoe’s sugar pine population, which now makes up less than 5 percent of the Tahoe Forest.

Submitted by paula on Sat, 12/21/2019 - 11:53pmSTATELINE, Nev. - Harveys Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino is undergoing some major projects including the complete remodel of all Lake Tower hotels rooms. Besides these rooms and the new Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen on the casino floor, Harveys is also adding new balcony suites as part of over $41 million in capital projects for 2019-20.
The tower’s balcony suites, with incredible views of the lake, were also renovated last year. The upgraded guest rooms and additional projects as well as a new casino bar and lounge experience opening in 2020 are part of the new capital outlay.

The VIP three-day passes are all sold out, but single festival tickets make it easier for fans of specific artists or time constraints. A limited quantity of Advanced Single Day general admission and VIP tickets have been released.
When the 'Advanced' ticket tier sells out their 'Last Chance' tickets will immediately go on sale, normally at a higher rate than those purchased early.
