With mural project canceled, Leadership Lake Tahoe gives back to the community
Submitted by paula on Fri, 08/07/2020 - 3:03pmLeadership Lake Tahoe is a ten-month-long course held every two years on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. It began in 2003 with a mission to identify and develop current and future leaders through a comprehensive program designed to increase knowledge and awareness of the issues and challenges facing our community. At the beginning, the program was sponsored by the Tahoe Douglas Chamber and South Lake Tahoe Chamber, they merged a few years later and became the Tahoe Chamber (or Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce).
Decision expected in May on status of major Lake Tahoe events
Submitted by paula on Tue, 04/28/2020 - 10:22amLAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - With formal events being canceled due to COVID-19 health concerns, there are two major summer events in Lake Tahoe that are still officially on the calendar. The holding of the American Century Championship (Celebrity Golf) and 4th of July Fireworks for this summer is expected to be determined mid-May.
Incline Village/Crystal Bay leaders announced their fireworks were going to be canceled earlier this month, but the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority (TDVA) board will be voting at their May meeting on the 2020 South Shore display.

STATELINE, Neve - The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners will hear a presentation from the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority (TDVA) on the Tahoe South Events Center Project during their February 27 board meeting which starts at 1:30 p.m.
The presentation will include project updates, status and all project-related studies, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) approval process and related transportation funding requirements, financing package from all funding sources, and the proposed pledge by the Douglas County Redevelopment Area No. 2 (RDA #2).

Find out at the annual Lake Tahoe economic summit "Transform Tahoe" hosted by the Tahoe Prosperity Center on Friday, October 11 at the North Lake Tahoe Events Center.
A day full of interactive and collaborative sessions will examine the opportunities for positive change as participants discuss and examine day-to-day challenges while also stepping back to look at the bigger picture.

May 6, 2017 - 6:30pm Be a Greek for a day at Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort on the beach on Tahoe's North Shore on May 6 during a traditional Glendi Greek Festival. The public is invited to attend and enjoy authentic Greek dancers and music, traditional food and drink, singing and dancing (instructions provided).
Everyone invited and it's only $10 per person.
The festival is part of a three-day event at the resort which is located at 6834 North Lake Boulevard in Tahoe Vista.

Public invited to Electric Vehicle Summit in Lake Tahoe

The summit will include displays of two Tesla vehicles, a Proterra 40-foot electric bus and a ChargePoint EV charging station.

4th Annual Locals Car Show Sunday

Les Schwab Tire Center of South Lake Tahoe is hosting their 4th Annual Locals Car Show on Sunday, July 6 at the "Y" area tire store.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. locals can show off their car, trucks, 4x4s and motorcycles for a $40 fee which included a bag of goodies. Everyone is welcome to attend and view the cars, have hot dogs, get cars washed, watch "the tire burn", listen to live music and enjoy the community event. There are also raffles and prizes.
All proceeds go to support Project 44, the foster family awareness program in South Lake Tahoe.
Drug Take Back Day Nets Over 50 Pounds of Pills in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Mon, 05/05/2014 - 9:50amDuring April's South Lake Tahoe Drug Take Back Day, over 50 pounds of prescription drugs were dropped off anonymously in the bins location in the Safeway parking lot. This is about a 27% increase over last year's efforts.
Getting unused prescription drugs out of the home is a major step in accomplishing two major goals of Drug Take Back Day: Keeping drugs out of the landfills and water systems and keep drugs out of the hands of people who they weren't prescribed for.
South Lake Tahoe Goes to the Dogs

August 17, 2013 - 10:00am The 2nd Annual Dog Carnival returns to South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, August 17 from 10 am to 4 pm. The non-profit Dawgs on the Run puts on the event to promote the fun and benefits of having dogs in our lives. This full day of fun is for dogs and their humans to enjoy and includes games, contests, raffles, food, prizes and informative demonstrations. All leashed dogs are invited!
