Public invited to Electric Vehicle Summit in Lake Tahoe

The public is invited to an Electric Vehicle Summit sponsored by Liberty Utilities at the North Lake Tahoe Events Center on Monday, April 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The summit will include displays of two Tesla vehicles, a Proterra 40-foot electric bus and a ChargePoint EV charging station.

The summit agenda:

8:30 a.m.: check-in
9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Presentations
12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Interaction w/vendors and test drives

There will also be presentations by the Tahoe Regional Planning Authority to discuss the Regional EV Readiness Plan, ChargePoint and Clipper Creek to discuss the latest in charging technology, Tahoe Transportation District to share their Electric Bus Project with us, and Proterra to talk about their latest electric bus on the market.

The public is invited to attend, but pre-registration is required as seating is limited. Anyone who has not pre-registered will not be able to attend the presentations, although they will be allowed to view the outdoor displays from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. To register, contact Kathy.carter2@libertyutilities.com by April 19.

Co-sponsors of the event include the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), Proterra and ChargePoint.

Liberty is applying to the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) at the end of June to locate charging stations in their service area, including ski resorts and high traffic public areas around Lake Tahoe. They will also be providing incentives to residential and commercial customers who install charging stations for their EV use. The CPUC recently approved the utility’s request for residential and small commercial EV-Time of Use tariffs that provide discounted rates if customers charge their electric vehicles during Liberty Utilities’ off-peak times.
