El Dorado Hills man dies while swimming in Lake Tahoe Triathlon
Submitted by paula on Fri, 08/30/2019 - 8:43amTragedy struck during the annual Lake Tahoe Marathon on August 24 when a 64-year-old El Dorado Hills man died during the swimming portion of the race near Sugar Pine Point
Mark Combs called out for help from the water at 8:23 a.m., according to Sgt. Anthony Prencipe, public information officer with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO).. Rescue swimmers on personal watercraft responded to the location and retrieved Mark from underwater. Lifesaving attempts were made by emergency personal and Mark was later pronounced deceased according to Prencipe.
Lake Tahoe and Sierra roadwork for August 25 - 31
Submitted by paula on Sat, 08/24/2019 - 6:55amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There are still almost two months left of scheduled roadwork around the Lake Tahoe Basin before winter hiatus. Most traffic-interfering work will be limited from 6:00 a.m. August 30 through 8:00 p.m. September 3 for Labor Day weekend. Exceptions may be granted depending on the work and route.
State Route 89 (Placer County): Motorists can expect intermittent short delays on State Route 89 at Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma from 6:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24 and from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, August 25 due to the Lake Tahoe Triathlon.

EMERGENCY PROJECT
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): The highway is reduced to one lane in each direction at Bridal Veil Falls for slope repair work.
SPECIAL EVENT
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) at the Sugar Pine State Park entrance: Motorists can expect intermittent traffic control Saturday during the Lake Tahoe Triathlon.
LONG-TERM PROJECTS
Delays expected on Highway 89 during this weekend's Lake Tahoe Triathlon
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/20/2015 - 7:44pmMotorists traveling along Highway 89 on the west shore this weekend can expect delays during the Lake Tahoe Triathlon.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) said the highway will not close during events but CHP officers will be conducting traffic control at several locations along the courses, including several turnaround spots for the cyclists. Work on Caltrans’ construction projects in the area will be wrapped up by Friday at 10 a.m. and won’t resume until Sunday night.
