The Tahoe Art Walk steps into 2020 with earlier hours for your local art excursion. This fun and free self-guided tour of South Shore art venues each Second Saturday of the month spans from Stateline to the Y and beyond. Immerse yourself in local culture apres ski. Enjoy art exhibits, events, and artist receptions for a wide range of artistic styles and media. Make new friends by participating in specially priced art classes and workshops.

Opinion: Uniting towards a sustainable vision for South Shore

It is an exciting time to live on the South Shore – during a critical point in our region’s evolution and potential. It is time to set our course: moving away from bickering and blaming, exclusionary special interests and single-industry dominance to consensus-building and proactively choosing progress. Whether we live in Nevada or California, everyone benefits from uniting towards a sustainable vision for the South Shore.

Top women cyclists coming to Lake Tahoe; Amgen Tour course goes through town

Exciting times for South Lake Tahoe in May as the community shines on the international stage as the location of the first stage of the Amgen Tour of California. Fourteen teams consisting of 84 of the top professional women racers will be in town for the race May 8-9, 2015. The racers consist of Olympic medalists, World Champions, Tour de France competitors and other cyclists from the National and International field.

Many of the teams have already been in the area getting ready for the Lake Tahoe stop on their tour. As we get closer to May 8, more of the participants will be in town.

South Lake Tahoe to host Amgen Tour's 2015 women's events

Organizers of the 10th anniversary of the Amgen Tour of California announced today that South Lake Tahoe has been chosen to host the first two stages of the women's portion of the race in 2015.

Women's cycling events continue to grow in the Amgen Tour which is America's largest race. The three-day women’s stage race will travel through South Lake Tahoe on May 8-9, 2015 and conclude in Sacramento on May 10, 2015, the same day of the overall start of the men’s race.

Meyers celebrates Summer Solstice with community gathering

The Meyers Summer Solstice Celebration “Fire” will take place on June 23, from 2-6 p.m. at 3170 Highway 50 in honor of the 5th anniversary of the Angora Fire.  Face painting, local culture and music will set the stage. This free and public family-centered event is designed to bring together the healing, artistic, and recreational cultures of Lake Tahoe in a community street fair that highlights the Washoe ancestral land that is centered on the “sacred giver of life,” Da ow a ga (Lake Tahoe).
