Alleged sales of marijuana edibles at Douglas High leads to arrest and hospital visit
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/17/2016 - 8:22pmOne student at Douglas High School in Minden was arrested along with a nearby resident after allegedly selling marijuana laced Rice Krispie treats on school groups which led to one student needing medical treatment.
On November 3 an investigation began after a student complained of feelings of anxiety and an accelerated heart rate. She said she may have eaten a Rice Crispy square laced with marijuana earlier in the day and named another female student as the person who brought the edible marijuana to school.
The ill student was taken to a medical facility for treatment by her parent.
Vets warn of dog exposure to marijuana edibles
Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/07/2015 - 10:22pmPet owners would do most anything for their animals, protecting them from all kinds of hazards. But now, it has become clear that one problem dog owners are facing with alarming frequency is their pets overdosing on marijuana edibles.
A Pleasant Hill woman owns a dog that ate something while on a hike that made him very sick. She told KTVU she was shocked to hear the veterinarian say the dog was stoned.
Marko is a playful Beagle-Boston Terrier mix.
"We go on hikes every Monday and Tuesday," said Marko's owner, Kristy Safarians.
But this Monday's hike didn't go quite as planned.

South Lake Tahoe pot club owner sentenced to five years in federal prison; agrees to forfeit drug money
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 04/10/2013 - 1:30pmFormer City of Angels 2 pot club owner Gennaro "Gino" DiMatteo of South Lake Tahoe was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Kimberly J. Mueller.
DiMatteo had pled guilty to a felony for marijuana trafficking on Jan. 9. As part of his plea agreement, DiMatteo agreed to forfeit more than $40,000 to the United States.
Former South Lake Tahoe pot club owner pleads guilty to federal trafficking charges
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 01/09/2013 - 11:07amGennaro "Gino" DiMatteo, 43, of South Lake Tahoe, pled guilty Wednesday to count two of the indictment, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced. DiMatteo is scheduled to be sentenced in April.
This case is the product of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department, and the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Jason Hitt is prosecuting the case.
