Undersheriff Randy Peshon retires leaving a legacy of programs for the community
Submitted by paula on Mon, 06/29/2020 - 9:19pmEL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - There will be some very big shoes to fill when finding a replacement for retiring El Dorado County Undersheriff Randy Peshon. On Tuesday, June 30, Peshon will be putting his badge on for the very last time. For 43 years he's been in some level of law enforcement, the last 33 years in El Dorado County.
During his career in El Dorado County, Peshon has been at the forefront of change from implementing a change in culture at the jail in South Lake Tahoe to getting the new Public Safety Facility built under budget and ahead of schedule.

Area fire update: Detwiler, Preacher, Ranch and Latrobe
Submitted by paula on Wed, 07/26/2017 - 8:37pmDouglas County's lightning caused Preacher Fire is 20 percent contained this evening and has burned 5,386 acres since starting early Monday morning. The fire is burning in the Pine Nut Mountains in steep and hard to access terrain.
South of Folsom near Rancho Murieta, the Latrobe Fire has burned 1,000 acres and is now 40 percent contained. The fire, which started Wednesday afternoon, is near Latrobe Rd & Scott Rd.
Marijuana focus at third home invasion robbery in El Dorado County
Submitted by paula on Tue, 12/08/2015 - 11:05pmEl Dorado County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a home invasion robbery on December 4 at 7:00 a.m. on Meadow Circle in Rescue. The woman who called in the report told the 911 operator that one person had been stabbed.
Once deputies arrived they found three occupants at the home, including one male who was bleeding. They were all escorted to a safe place where medics could evaluate them.
Another El Dorado County home invasion robbery nets pot and cash
Submitted by paula on Mon, 11/30/2015 - 8:04pmThere have been two home invasion robberies in El Dorado County in the last nine days, and in both cases the thieves were after money and marijuana.
On November 28 at 1:15 a.m., sheriff's deputies responded to a home invasion robbery in the 3000 block of Winter Creek Road in Mount Aukum. The unidentified male caller said his wife was the victim and she was home alone. He went home and met deputies there.
Update: Sand Fire now 90% contained, 4,240 acres burned
Submitted by paula on Fri, 07/25/2014 - 11:02pm7/30/14 update: Firefighters are getting the upper hand on a wildfire north of the town of Plymouth. All evacuation orders have been lifted.
So far, 4,240 acres have burned as well as 19 homes and 47 outbuildings. The fire did not spread overnight. The increase in reported acreage burned is due to a precise GPS mapping.
According to Cal Fire, patrol and mop-up of the fire will continue for several days. Rugged terrain and hot, dry weather conditions in addition to hazards associated with mines within the fire area continue to be a challenge for firefighters.
