Area fire update: Detwiler, Preacher, Ranch and Latrobe

Douglas County's lightning caused Preacher Fire is 20 percent contained this evening and has burned 5,386 acres since starting early Monday morning. The fire is burning in the Pine Nut Mountains in steep and hard to access terrain.
South of Folsom near Rancho Murieta, the Latrobe Fire has burned 1,000 acres and is now 40 percent contained. The fire, which started Wednesday afternoon, is near Latrobe Rd & Scott Rd.
Near Mt. Aukum in El Dorado County, the Ranch Fire has prompted evacuations and road closures. It has burned 154 acres since starting just before 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. The Ranch fire is 15 percent contained.
The Detwiler Fire burning near Mariposa, Calif. is now 70 percent contained. Almost 5,000 firefighters remain on the scene as repopulation efforts continue. Since starting ten days ago the fire has burned through 81,250 acres. The cause is still under investigation.
