Festival of Trees and Lights begins Thursday

Throughout the last three-years, Barton Foundation has dedicated funds raised from The Festival to Barton Health’s Community Clinic expansion and renovation. A Level III trauma center, located in Barton Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department (E.D.), is this year’s fundraising initiative.

Submitted by Editor on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 1:49amDr. Scott Welker, from Barton Memorial Hospital at South Lake Tahoe performed his first single-incision cholecystectomy (surgical removal of the gallbladder) with the da Vinci Si Surgical System on Wednesday, May 9.
“With all of the added benefits of less pain, less blood loss, shorter hospital stays and a reduced risk of infections, the single-incision allows us to do cholecystectomies via one incision in the umbilicus (navel), which is nearly invisible after it heals,” Dr. Welker said.
