Celebrities practicing moves for Dancing With the Tahoe Stars

Five, six, seven, eight. Dancers will always have numbers in their head as they count out the beat, and those participating in the annual Dancing With the Tahoe Stars are no doubt experiencing just that as they wrap up their final two weeks of rehearsals.

There's an old saying: "Writing about art is like dancing about architecture." After watching rehearsals this week I starting searching for the words to start as I found that translating the movement of the human body into something written down to be a frustrating process.

So instead, I'll focus on those who are participating.

Dancing With the Tahoe Stars returns to the MontBleu stage in March

In case you haven't made it to any of the previous Tahoe Arts Project Dancing With the Tahoe Stars you'll want to put March 7 on your calendars.

Ten local celebrities will be paired with talented and experienced dancers from the area. In the group of ten is a real estate agent, business owner, comedian, Barton executive, lawyer, doctor, teacher, fireman, casino executive and public relations expert.

Weidinger Public Relations of Lake Tahoe wins top honors

Weidinger Public Relations was presented with four awards by the Public Relations Society of America, Sierra Nevada Chapter at the organization’s 28th annual Silver Spike Awards recently held in Reno. They won the prestigious “Judge’s Choice Award,” denoting Northern Nevada’s best overall campaign.

Tahoe Prosperity Center welcomes two new team members

The TPC Executive Committee contracted with Proctor and Ducey after Mone´ Haen, former chief executive officer, announced her resignation in December. Squaw Valley avalanche causes minor injuries to two skiers

Two skiers are being treated for minor injuries after an avalanche at Squaw Valley on the KT-22 peak, according to Squaw Valley Public Relations Manager Amelia Richmond.
Three snowboarders triggered the inbounds, post-control avalanche at 9:50 a.m., said Richmond.

Squaw Valley Opens for One-Day Fundraiser

Skiers and riders got to head down the mountain at Squaw Valley on Thursday. The resort opened for just four hours for a one-day fundraiser that marked the earliest Squaw Valley has opened to the public since it started keeping records in 1960.
At Squaw Valley, it's a bluebird day. And one for the record books.
"Yeah, this is the earliest we've been open to the public since our records dating back to 1960," says Jenny Kendrick, Public Relations manager for Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows.
But then again, this hasn't been a typical October, thanks to this week's storms.

Nevada Legislative Panel OKs Budget Changes So $3 Million Tourism Contract Can Be Finalized

CARSON CITY – A legislative panel today quickly approved budget changes sought by a state agency so it can finalize a $3 million contract with an out-of-state firm to spearhead tourism efforts in Nevada.
Burson-Marsteller, with offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco, was the unanimous selection of an evaluation committee made up of Nevada tourism professionals. The company will be working with Red Rock Strategies of Las Vegas.

$3 Million Tourism Contract Approved By Nevada Board, Funding Still In Limbo

CARSON CITY — The state Board of Examiners on Friday approved a $3 million contract with an out-of-state firm to spearhead tourism efforts in Nevada after being told the selection process was thorough and fair.
The board, with members Gov. Brian Sandoval and Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto voting, approved the two-year contract with the California-based offices of Burson-Marsteller.
