Terry Alan Ogg ~ 1954 - 2020
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/06/2020 - 2:40pmLake Tahoe has lost one of its icons. At the young age of 66, Terry Alan Ogg left us suddenly July 28, 2020.
Terry was born March 18, 1954 in Richmond, California. He grew up in Pinole, California and graduated from Pinole High School in 1972. As a teenager, he developed a love for music and found his instrument, a "Huge" (his words) Hammond organ. He moved his organ to South Lake Tahoe in 1975 at the age of 21 on a quest to become a rock star, among other interests.
Invasive mussels found during Lake Tahoe boat inspections
Submitted by paula on Wed, 07/24/2019 - 1:21pmMandatory inspections of all boats launching in Lake Tahoe and other Sierra lakes has resulted in the interception of invasive quagga mussels on two boats.
The detection of the infestations of aquatic invasive species took place at the California inspection stations in Meyers and Truckee.

Sunken sailboat to be removed from Lake Tahoe

The boat's mast and wet sails have been sticking up through the water, an eyesore to many trying to take photos of the scenic view, a topic of conversation to others trying to figure out what happened.

This event includes classroom instruction on basic sailing and boating safety in the morning and on-the-water instruction as a guest on a member’s sailboat in the afternoon. The clinic is open to men and women of all experience levels. We try to match up participants to boats according to their abilities and interests to ensure the best sailing experience. If you have wanted to try sailing and haven’t had the opportunity, this is a great way to get the feel of it.

Dave McClure 1950~2018
Submitted by paula on Mon, 03/26/2018 - 9:05amDavid Alan McClure passed away from multiple organ failure at Renown Hospital on February 24, 2018.
He was the first born child of Charles and Florence Engstrom McClure in Martinez, Calif., on October 7, 1050. Soon after, they moved to San Francisco, they lived in the student housing quonset huts while Charles got his teaching degree. Four years later they moved to San Anselmo, in Marin County, where the family lived in an Asian pagoda style home until 2016.
Sunken sailboat now back afloat on Lake Tahoe

Preparations made to remove sunken sailboat from waters of South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 05/09/2017 - 11:24amThe sunken sailboat off the shore of South Lake Tahoe near El Dorado Beach will soon be a thing of the past. All winter long the mast of the sunken boat could be seen from the shore, and as water levels rose, the mast tipped over more.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in North Lake Tahoe, they had sent a crew to the boat during the winter to document and verify the sinking, retrieved the vessel number and made contact with its owner. USCG said they also made the information public so boaters would be forewarned of the hazard.

Join the experienced skippers Of WYC for a day filled with classroom instruction and optional on-the-water application. Men and women of any skill level are invited to attend.
Pre-Registration is Required, Space is Limited. The clinic will be held at the WYC clubhouse located above the harbor master's office in the Tahoe Keys Marina. The cost is $35 for WYC members~~$45 for non-members.

The Lake Tahoe Community College hosts an evening of food, wine and world class entertainment at their summer event, The Taste of Gold. It will be held in the Demonstration Garden at the Ledbetter Terrace on Saturday, July 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
it is a great event held on a perfect summer evening and is Tahoe's BEST outdoor wine and food party! All proceeds benefit the LTCC Foundation, which supports student scholarships and academic programs.

The Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation’s second annual Taste of Gold fundraiser will be Saturday, July 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the College’s Ledbetter Terrace and Demonstration Garden.

Nine rescued from Lake Tahoe after boat flips

High winds delay Tahoe Queen in Carnelian Bay

Meanwhile, Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded shortly before 4 p.m. to a capsized sailboat about 300 yards off of Cave Rock boat landing. The owner of the vessel reports that everyone is off the boat and accounted for.
