More snow for Lake Tahoe Basin on the way this weekend
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 11/14/2012 - 9:38amMore snow is on the way for Lake Tahoe, securing ski resorts preparing for the long Thanksgiving weekend.
The first of two low pressure systems will bring some snow to the Sierra beginning late Thursday night into Friday. The second and wetter system should arrive late Saturday night or Sunday with periods of heavy snow possible for the Lake Tahoe Basin, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Models have been mixed and the weather service hasn't suggested snow amounts from these storms.
Sierra-at-Tahoe teams up with Squaw and Alpine for value-added skiing and boarding

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort season passholders can now enjoy free skiing or riding at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows from opening day until December 21, 2012, as well as from April 15, 2013 until closing day.

Heavenly and Northstar will open on Wednesday, Nov. 14 with a combined seven lifts and eight trails, totaling 51 acres.

I feel like our group had many salient ideas that were not properly represented. Also, I have noticed that people are quick to offer ideas like “reduce unemployment”, “beautify the city”, and “improve recreation”, but they are typically unable to offer suggestions on how to make those ideas a reality.

The firm, which positions itself as a global rating agency dedicated to providing value beyond the rating through independent and prospective credit opinions, research and data, gave the water and sewer district a AA+ rating, noting $10.8 million sewer revenue certificates of participation. The ratings agency also asserts that STPUD continues to have strong reserves in place that protects the district against a reduction in its property tax revenues.

Tahoe resorts, business outfit vehicle fleets with Lake Tahoe license plate

Heavenly Ski Resort helped launch the program in 1996 and has 140 vehicles plated for Tahoe. Northstar Resort, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, and Tahoe Dave’s Skis and Boards have ordered new Tahoe plates.

As someone who made a personal decision a few years ago to stop supporting a corporate-owned ski resort (Heavenly) and start buying my pass at one of the last independent ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area (Kirkwood) – the fact that Kirkwood is a better mountain for all the right reasons didn’t hurt either – this news affected me, but it did not shock me.
