Tahoe ski conditions ideal in time for 10-day Winter SnowFest

It just doesn’t get any better. March came in like a lion, with a series of storms leaving 4 feet of new snow at North Lake Tahoe ski resorts’ upper elevations. The National Weather Service is predicting that the weather will change Friday with sunny, clear skies for the weekend.

“Tons of powder and sunshine – that pretty much sums up this weekend,” said Chief Marketing Officer Andy Chapman of the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association. “North Lake Tahoe is fortunate in that we get these strong storms that move through quickly, leaving large amounts of snow and then give way to bluebird skies. It’s ideal for a destination with the largest concentration of ski resorts in the country.”

According to Chapman, “the phones are ringing” and he recommends that winter enthusiasts book their lodging sooner rather than later as it will be a busy weekend.

Visitors will also be heading to North Lake Tahoe to take advantage of the 31st Annual SnowFest, North Lake Tahoe’s 10-day winter carnival, which is scheduled to kick off Friday, March 2. Festival attendees will be treated to some of the winter’s best ski and snowboard conditions in addition to Opening Ceremonies (March 2) with fireworks and a laser light show, Tahoe City Parade (March 3), 22nd Annual Gar Woods Polar Bear Swim (March 3), Rahlves’ Banzai Tour KT-22 Banzai (March 3-4), Bridgetender’s 4th Annual Rib Fest (March 9), Kings Beach Parade (March 10), Ta-Hoe Nalu Arctic Standup Paddle Board Race (March 11) and the River Ranch Annual Snow Sculpture Contest (March 11)
