Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe wins gold again at X Games

South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson has never missed a podium in the past 14 years of competing in the X Games, and this year is no different.

The 29-year-old queen of slopestyle took the gold on Saturday in Women's Snowboard Slopestyle at X Games Aspen 2020, giving her a 16th medal, the most for a woman in the history of X Games winter or summer events. Seven of those are gold and five silver.

South Lake Tahoe skier awarded BlueZone Sports and Moment Ski package

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The ski resorts have yet to open in Lake Tahoe, but young racers and competitors headed to BlueZone Sports Saturday for "Competition Day" where they had special prices and prizes.

One of those prizes went to 14-year-old Sebastian Kilgore, a freshman at South Tahoe High School. Blue Zone Sports selected the young man who competes in slopestyle and rail events in the USAA South Tahoe Series. Kilgore had a very successful 2018-19 season and placed fourth in Nationals where his "Front 630 Off Rail" won the "Best Trick" award.

Trash scavenger hunt with Olympian Jamie Anderson and Clean Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Clean Tahoe is hosting an event on Thursday afternoon with South Lake Tahoe native and Olympian Jamie Anderson, Don't Talk Trash - Pick It Up Scavenger Hunt.

On October 3 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., join the community at Lakeside Beach and participate in a trash pick up. Be at the beach at 3:30 p.m. to get supplies and scorecards. The fun begins at 3:50 p.m. and all have exactly one hour to clean the beach and neighborhood. Prizes will then be handed out.

No need to RSVP, just show up and have fun while helping the environment.

Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe and one of the most successful female snowboarders won her 16th X Games medal, winning the bronze on Thursday in Women's Snowboard Big Air.

Jamie took a hard fall during one run, landing on her face and leaving her with bruises that were visible when interviewed on television Friday. Half of her female competitors in Big Air didn't finish after they too crashed.

South Lake Tahoe Olympians head to Breckenridge for Dew Tour

South Lake Tahoe Olympians Jamie Anderson, Hannah Teter and Maddie Bowman are headed for the mountains of Colorado as they take center stage at the annual winter Dew Tour ski and snowboard competition and festival in Breckenridge, Colo. December 13-16, 2018.

After last year's Dew Tour serving as an Olympic Qualifying event, fans and athletes will see the upcoming event creatively showcase its unique and progressive competitions, including the Modified Superpipe Presented by Toyota, Slopestyle, Adaptive Banked Slalom Presented by Toyota, Streetstyle and Team Challenge events.

Lake Tahoe athletes on U.S. Ski and Snowboard teams

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The United States Ski and Snowboard teams have been announced for this season and several local faces once again, including South Lake Tahoe Olympians Maddie Bowman and Jamie Anderson, are on that list.

Maddie Bowman, a South Tahoe High grad, has won an Olympic gold medal and seven X Games medals. She burst onto the ski halfpipe scene in 2012, and into the history books two years later by winning the first Olympic gold medal in women’s halfpipe skiing. She has now been on the Pro Halfpipe-Freeskiing team for seven years.

Two South Lake Tahoe athletes are headed to the finals in their respective sports during the final week of the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang.

It was the debut of snowboard big air at the Olympics today, with 12 women advancing to the finals, including South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson who landed cab double cork 900s in her second run.

Anderson won gold earlier in the Olympics during the slopestyle event, her second consecutive gold in the event.

American's golden girl, Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe, is the winner of back-to-back Olympic gold medals.

During the slopestyle event at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games at Bokwang Phoenix Snow Park, competitors had to wait for hours to complete two runs in the women's finals. Wind and cold temperatures forced a delay overnight, and into Monday afternoon, Korean time. Normally competitors get three runs.

Jamie had an impressive 83-point first run, enough for her to claim the gold.

Kyle Smaine of South Lake Tahoe wins halfpipe at Mammoth

Kyle Smaine of South Lake Tahoe was the surprise winner of the final selection event for the U.S. freeski halfpipe Olympic team at Mammoth Friday, but will it be enough to earn him a discretionary selection?

The 26-year-old Sierra-at-Tahoe skier has a chance.

The U.S. freeski team added four more athletes to its halfpipe roster for PyeongChang on Friday night.

Alex Ferreira and Torin Yater-Wallace are joining David Wise on the men's team, while Brita Sigourney and Devin Logan are joining South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman on the women's team.

Jamie Anderson wins Slopestyle at Mammoth Grand Prix

The American snowboarders turned in a stellar performance at the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix slopestyle event on Sunday, sweeping both men’s and women’s podiums. Up-and-comer Red Gerard from Silverthorne, Colo., topped the field to take the win for the men, while South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson continued her global domination with a win for the ladies. Kyle Mack (West Bloomfield, MI) and Hailey Langland (San Clemente, CA) each took second while Dylan Thomas (Kingsley, PA) and Julia Marino (Westport, CT) were third.

South Lake Tahoe women win medals during Aspen's X Games

Women from the South Shore of Lake Tahoe will once again bring home medals from the X Games held this weekend in Aspen, Colorado.

South Lake Tahoe's Elena Hight, 27, made her thirteenth X Games appearance, and is now a six-time medalist. She won the Women's Snowboard SuperPipe with a 87.33 over Xuetong Cai and Chloe Kim. Another South Lake Tahoe rider, 30-year-old Hannah Teter, came in eighth. She too is a six-time medalist in the X Games.

South Lake Tahoe native Jamie Anderson, 26, was in an unfamiliar position when she stood on the third-place step of the podium at the slopestyle snowboarding world cup Friday in Laax, Switzerland.

Jamie Anderson notches sixth World Cup gold medal in big air

Jamie Anderson nabbed her sixth World Cup gold medal of the season in the big air event at the U.S. Grand Prix on Saturday night.

Anderson, who is the reigning Olympic champion in slopestyle, notched a total of 151.25 points. It was her second World Cup gold in big air—her other four World Cup gold medals have come in slopestyle.

The big air event will make its debut at the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang.

Jamie Anderson wins Slopestyle Jib at Dew Tour 2016

This year’s Dew Tour has been anything but conventional, with weather causing switch-ups to the all the events. The women’s slopestyle contest was diverted into two parts with the jib section going down on Saturday, and the jump portion was rescheduled for Sunday.

But, it’s puking snow and howling wind in Breckenridge, so the jump segment was cancelled. The riders all agreed it would be in everyone’s best interest to hold-off from hitting the booter in these conditions, so they used the top jibs scores for the winners.

The all new jib garden took it’s first official beating of the weekend when the women of Snowboard Slopestyle took on the rail section first thing on Saturday morning.

The top rider of the morning was none other than Jamie Anderson. Anderson had mentioned earlier in the week that she was a bit of a traditionalist with regard to Slopestyle formats. However, after absolutely slaughtering the rails section, she was excited to perform so well under the new circumstances.

The final snowboard FIS World Cup slopestyle event took place Sunday in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic, and Jamie Anderson from Meyers won the crystal globe award for women’s snowboard slopestyle despite skipping the final event of the season. Anderson also claimed the crystal globe for overall freestyle snowboarding.

On the men's side, Chris Corning (Arvada, CO) hit the podium with a second-place finish, and secured the overall World Cup Slopestyle title.

All three runs for South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman in the Women's Ski SuperPipe X Games today beat all competitors on the course, earning her a fourth straight gold medal in the event. The 22-year-old Olympic gold medalist has also won a silver and bronze in the X Games.

Bowman scored a 85.33 on her first run Friday, followed by a 87.33 and 89.00. Second place finisher Ayana Onozuka of Japan ended up with a high run of 85.00. Bronze medalist Annalisa Drew of the USA had an 83.00.

Facts about Saturday's South Lake Tahoe 50th Anniversary Parade

More than 100 vehicles and floats will be in Saturday's parade that will be celebrating the City of South Lake Tahoe's 50th anniversary. Along with the moving entries there will also be 500 people walking along the route.

Route for City's 50th Parade changed so it leads to "Party in the Park"

The route of the City of South Lake Tahoe's 50th Anniversary Parade on Saturday, September 19 has changed direction so it will lead to Bijou Park for the grand opening of the Bijou Bike Park.

So far there are 85 entries in the parade along with over 300 walkers joining in the festivities. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the 'Y' and will proceed East on Highway 50, turn right onto Al Tahoe Blvd. and end at Bijou Community Park where the city will officially open and dedicate the Bijou Bike Park with a “Party at the Park.”

South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson won her 10th X Games medal in Aspen, CO today, bringing home silver.

Anderson led the group of athletes in Snowboard Slopestyle through the first two rounds but failed to land cleanly on the last, allowing defending two time X Game Gold medalist Silje Norendal to win her third straight gold.

Today's event was Anderson's third straight X Game silver.

The Sierra-at-Tahoe snowboarder's medal count for X Games: 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze.

Maddie Bowman wins third straight gold medal at X Games

South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman won her third straight gold medal Wednesday in the 2015 Women's Ski SuperPipe final at the X Games in Aspen.

She started off day one of the annual five day event with solid runs of 85.00, 78.00 and 85.66. The silver went to Ayana Onozuka (83.33) and a bronze to Brita Sigourney (78.66).

Bowman, who grew up on the slopes of Sierra-at-Tahoe, tied the late Sarah Burke's three straight X Game golds.

South Lake Tahoe skier Kyle Smaine a leader on Revolution Tour

South Lake Tahoe Olympian Maddie Bowman used the U.S. Revolution Tour as a stepping stone to the Olympics, and fellow SLT freeskier Kyle Smaine is making his move on the same tour.

An early season leader, Smaine is now headed to the tour's next stop January 26 to 30 at Pennsylvania's Seven Springs Mountain Resort.
