Route for City's 50th Parade changed so it leads to "Party in the Park"

The route of the City of South Lake Tahoe's 50th Anniversary Parade on Saturday, September 19 has changed direction so it will lead to Bijou Park for the grand opening of the Bijou Bike Park.

So far there are 85 entries in the parade along with over 300 walkers joining in the festivities. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the 'Y' and will proceed East on Highway 50, turn right onto Al Tahoe Blvd. and end at Bijou Community Park where the city will officially open and dedicate the Bijou Bike Park with a “Party at the Park.”

They anticipate the parade to conclude at Bijou Community Park at 11:30 a.m.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 12:30pm for the Bijou Bike Park and the following activities are planned;

1:00pm Bike Course open to public
1:30pm SLT Police 'Bike Rodeo' for kids
2:00 to 3:00pm Jump Jam on slopestyle line with World class athletes
3:30pm BMX Race starts
All day 4th Annual Deep Blue Derby Tournament, hosted by the Sierra Regional Roller Derby

The parking lot at Bijou Community Park will be closed to accommodate parking for floats and classic cars from the parade. Parking will be available across the street at Lake Tahoe Community College.

The City will be offering limited complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. with donations being suggested for the Bijou Bike Park Association.

The City extends their gratitude to the Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe for their volunteer efforts to help put on the parade.
