Maddie Bowman, South Lake Tahoe Olympic champion, announces retirement from competition
Submitted by paula on Mon, 01/20/2020 - 12:28pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - One of South Lake Tahoe's Golden Girls, Maddie Bowman, has announced her retirement from competitive halfpipe freeskiing on Monday.
In an announcement, U.S. Ski & Snowboard said Bowman, Olympic gold medalist, X Games gold medalist and seven-year member of the U.S. Freeski Team, is stepping away and leaving in her tracks a lasting legacy of triumph, perseverance, and progression.
Medals were elusive for two South Shore snowboarders in X Game Superpipe finals
Submitted by paula on Sun, 01/25/2015 - 10:51amSouth Lake Tahoe's Hannah Teter and Elena Hight both made it to the Snowboard Superpipe finals Saturday night at the X Games in Aspen, CO but were unable to turn their runs into medal contenders.
Teter, a six time X Game medalist, won the event in 2004 and came in third in 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2012. The 27-year old came in seventh this year with rounds of 51, 48 and 10.66.
25-year old Hight made her tenth appearance at the X Games this weekend. The five time medalist ended in eighth this year with rounds of 21.66, 46 and 32.

Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation Announces Freeride Ski Team

The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation has announced two new programs for the 2011 – 2012 winter season under the Freestyle umbrella. The Foundation will offer two Freeride program options, the One-Day Program and the Full-Time Competitive Program. These programs are open to intermediate to advanced level skiers aged ten to 18 who have a passion for slopestyle, skiercross and halfpipe training.
