South Lake Tahoe forecast: Big changes ahead

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Even though the 70s have been great temperatures for the past few weeks, it was inevitable that the weather patterns would change just as daylight saving time did. A strong cold front will push through the Sierra and western Nevada on Friday bringing gusty winds, much colder temperatures, and chances for rain and snow showers, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City of South Lake Tahoe has this morning declared a local emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is taking extra precautions to keep the public and our employees safe during this time.
The local emergency proclamation means we can provide or receive mutual aid from other jurisdictions and helps us secure resources, funding and staffing. In accordance with Governor Newsom’s Executive Order N28-20, the local emergency proclamation also includes a moratorium on some residential evictions until the

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A warmer and drier trend will be in store through early next week. Dry conditions with light winds are expected through the weekend. Light winds ill prevail on Wednesday with increased winds Thursday. Wind gusts could reach around 25 mph Thursday afternoon across valley locations across the Sierra and western Nevada with 40-50 mph possible along Sierra ridgetops.

Charter plans to cut KCRA from South Lake Tahoe lineup

UPDATE 5/22 8:35 a.m.: El Dorado County Supervisor Sue Novasel has arranged for a call between the County, City and Charter Cable people this Friday. "We need KCRA for South Tahoe (it’s a public safety issue in my opinion) She, along with others, remember when Charter tried to discontinue California services in 2008.

News that KCRA will be soon be removed from the Charter Communications lineup for South Lake Tahoe is not being taken well by many locals.

Learn how forest health and fuels management activities in the Lake Tahoe Basin create effective community protection from wildfire during a free tour on Saturday, November 5 in South Lake Tahoe from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Those attending will get an in-depth perspective of forest management and what it means to reside within a Fire Adapted Community.
The Tahoe Resource Conservation District in partnership with local fire districts, and other agencies has established the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities program to educate people on wildfire preparedness.
Storm could drop almost two feet of snow over the Sierra this weekend

A new storm is headed to Lake Tahoe, making its first push into Northern California and Nevada with rain and snow on Friday. Even though the storm should be a moderate sized one, significant shadowing will keep the precipitation along the Sierra crest westward, with little if any spillover from Lake Tahoe eastward.

A few inches of snow fell at Lake Tahoe ski areas, bringing out skiers and riders in droves for Christmas Day fun.
There is a chance of under an inch snow on the first day of SnowGlobe, Monday, December 29, but other than that the two week forecast is clear and cold.
Per Accuweather, the following is forecast for South Lake Tahoe:
Friday, December 26 - Sunny with a High of 32, Low 10
Saturday, December 27 - Mostly Sunny with a High of 41, Low of 20
Sunday, December 28 - Some sun with a high of 41, Low of 18

Change is in the air for South Lake Tahoe weather. Winds are picking up Sunday, temperatures will be dropping overnight with rain and snow due on Monday.
According to the weather reports, a low pressure system and a cold front reaches the eastern Sierra and western Nevada late Sunday and Monday.
As the low approaches, winds will increase this afternoon with
gusts of 40 to 50 mph across northeast California including the Lake Tahoe
