A strong cold front will push through the Sierra and western Nevada on Friday bringing gusty winds, much colder temperatures, and chances for rain and snow showers, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The local emergency proclamation means we can provide or receive mutual aid from other jurisdictions and helps us secure resources, funding and staffing. Dry conditions with light winds are expected through the weekend. Light winds ill prevail on Wednesday with increased winds Thursday. Wind gusts could reach around 25 mph Thursday afternoon across valley locations across the Sierra and western Nevada with 40-50 mph possible along Sierra ridgetops.

"We need KCRA for South Tahoe (it’s a public safety issue in my opinion) She, along with others, remember when Charter tried to discontinue California services in 2008.

Learn how forest health and fuels management activities in the Lake Tahoe Basin create effective community protection from wildfire during a free tour on Saturday, November 5 in South Lake Tahoe from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Those attending will get an in-depth perspective of forest management and what it means to reside within a Fire Adapted Community.
The Tahoe Resource Conservation District in partnership with local fire districts, and other agencies has established the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities program to educate people on wildfire preparedness.
Storm could drop almost two feet of snow over the Sierra this weekend

Even though the storm should be a moderate sized one, significant shadowing will keep the precipitation along the Sierra crest westward, with little if any spillover from Lake Tahoe eastward.

There is a chance of under an inch snow on the first day of SnowGlobe, Monday, December 29, but other than that the two week forecast is clear and cold.

According to the weather reports, a low pressure system and a cold front reaches the eastern Sierra and western Nevada late Sunday and Monday.
As the low approaches, winds will increase this afternoon with
gusts of 40 to 50 mph across northeast California including the Lake Tahoe
