South Tahoe Vikings Holds Off 2nd Half Surge by Churchill County to Get 3rd Straight Win
Submitted by paula on Sun, 01/19/2014 - 11:32amThe South Tahoe Vikings varsity basketball team won Saturday's conference game against Churchill County by a score of 71-67. As has been the case this season, South Tahoe came charging out with strong play on both sides of the court. The 3rd quarter box score had Churchill outscoring South Tahoe 12-8 but the Vikings rebounded with a 19-15 4th quarter.

The South Tahoe High School Performing Arts Booster Association (PABA) Gala will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 5 pm. For just $30 per ticket you'll get a steak and lobster dinner prepared by local residents, the Romagnolo family. Discounted entrance tickets into the theater department's performance of "Young Frankenstein" immediately after dinner are also available for $10 each.
Dinner is at 5 pm and will be held in the STHS Studen Union. The play will start after dinner in the school's new theater.

South Tahoe Viking Boys Basketball Team Victorious in League Opener
Submitted by paula on Sat, 12/14/2013 - 9:31amA spirited crowd was on hand as the South Tahoe Vikings hosted the Truckee Wolverines Friday Night in their league opener.
The boys started off the game with 9 straight, unanswered points and lead throughout the game, ending up victorious with a 52-45 win over Truckee.
The girls team was in a battle through 4 quarters but ended up with a loss with a score of 33-24. Their Thursday night was a win over Wooster, 48-28.

October 30, 2013 - 5:00pm The South Tahoe High Preforming Arts Department is having a SPOOK-tacular Spaghetti Dinner at Bert's Cafe on October 30 from 5 pm to 7 pm. The cost is only $10 per person for a complete dinner or $15 for the dinner and a ticket to the Performing Arts Faculty Show at the school's TADA building at 7:30 pm that evening.
Tickets are available at Dr. Shanahan's office at 1154 Emerald Bay Road or at Dr. Doyle's office at 2074 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
South Tahoe High Homecoming Parade

A week of homecoming festivities at South Tahoe High begins on Saturday, September 28 with the annual parade through town. At 10 am the parade will begin at the LTUSD bus garage on Al Tahoe Boulevard and head along Highway 50 to the high school.
Trucks full of students, cars carrying alumni, cheerleaders, teams, the pep band and more will join the parade route.
The South Tahoe High Alumni Foundation has planned the event which will also include members of the classes of 1963, 1964, 1966, 1968 and 1973.

Inaugural Lake Tahoe Color Themed 5k Run a "Blast"
Submitted by paula on Sun, 09/15/2013 - 12:53pmBursts of color surrounded the over 100 runners as they participated in the inaugural Tahoe Youth and Family Service's Color Blast Run on Saturday, September 14. The 5k course meandered through the Lake Tahoe Community College parking lot, streets and bike paths. The race name comes from colored cornstarch that is doused over the runners and they pass by strategically placed stations along the course. Once the runners came across the finish line there was a celebration of dancing and lots more color being tossed.

Double neck guitar phenomenon Ian Ethan Case will play a fundraising concert for STHS music on September 12th at the South Tahoe High Theater. Show time is 6 pm. Come and see this extraordinary and creative artist as he visits the West Coast for the first time in years. He's taking a day off of his tour to help out the school's music program. The show is $10 and tickets are available at the door.

LTCC grant program focuses on creating college ready middle and high school students

The Department of Education grant that started in the tail end of last school year consists of $230,000 a year for five years to provide services to 500 low-income, first generation college-bound students at the middle and high schools.
