July 8, 2016 - 8:30pm Join Tahoe Heritage Foundation and the US Forest Service for the Friday Evening Program Summer series. This Friday July 8, Tracy Salcedo-Chourre, author of Best Easy Day Hikes Lake Tahoe, as she shares her knowledge of the amazing hiking trails around Lake Tahoe. This event will be held at Taylor Creek Visitor Center at 8:30 p.m. and is open to the public. There is a $5.00 donation to the Tahoe Heritage Foundation.
Local Author to Share his 500 Miles of SLT Hikes

May 12, 2015 - 6:00pm South Lake Tahoe native Aaron Hussmann will share his book, "500 Miles of South Lake Tahoe Hikes" at the South Lake Tahoe Library on May 12 at 6 p.m.
After going away to college, Aaron moved back to the Sierra Nevada mountains for an intentional summer of hiking and backpacking that became the basis for his guidebook.
Just in time for hiking season, Hussmanm hopes his work will inspire others to get outdoors and become better stewards of Lake Tahoe.
Join the Friends of the Library for a motivating hike presentation. Book sale and signing to follow.

After working 60-80 hour weeks for nine months, living in a crowded city, and becoming one of the thousands of tired, nerve-shaken souls John Muir spoke about, I realized the famous naturalist was right when he said, "going to the mountains is going home."
