There have been toy and food drives, and one of those recently held was by The Shops at Heavenly Village and Dreu Murin Productions.
City Council votes to give $50K to local food sources; Works on business assistance plans

Bread & Broth, Bread & Broth 4 Kids, Christmas Cheer, Phoenix Food Pantry, and the Family Resource Center will all be getting a check for $10,000 each from the City to help fill their shelves to meet the need.

Scientists and doctors pled for the public to stay home to keep the virus from spreading, and that plea worked better in some areas than others.

The cost of the event is $65 for Tahoe Chamber members and $85 for non-members and includes champagne upon arrival, a 3-course dinner and a glass of wine.
Group of South Lake Tahoe businesses "Pay it Forward" to employees

All profits made during the day go back to the employees. While staff can do whatever they want with the money they are encouraged to reach out and help someone less fortunate.
"Let the ripples begin," said Ted Kennedy via Facebook as he encouraged people to support the businesses participating in the special day. He is a partner at the restaurants and gym taking part in "Pay It Forward Day."

Ted Kennedy and Outpost Brewing Co. are holding a 'Thank You Party' for Nancy Kerry, the former city manager of South Lake Tahoe on Sunday, March 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
"Some generous and thankful South Lake Tahoe residents are paying the first $1,500 of the tab so come out and have a fresh beer, some great food and thank Nancy for her great contributions to the city that we all love," said Kennedy on his Facebook post for the event.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Week at many South Lake Tahoe restaurants

In an effort to support police officers and deputies, and to recognize the challenges that they face every day, local restaurateur Ted Kennedy challenged other South Lake Tahoe restaurants to join him in honoring law enforcement with free meals.

This is becoming a recurring event at California Burger. They had Pay it Forward day for the employees in May after the inaugural one in 2016.

Their Adopt A Day of Nourishment sponsorship is just one of the many ways that Ted Kennedy and members of his restaurant crews have been partnering with B&B. In addition to sponsoring AADs, Tahoe Restaurant Group has been sending helpers to assist B&B volunteers with the Monday Meal cleanup, purchasing dinner utensils and sponsoring and providing financial assistance and help whenever needed.

In the spirit of community, the idea of honoring law enforcement in South Lake Tahoe on August 1 is growing. Jen Bloch, owner of Tahoe Tot Spot, heard what South Lake Tahoe restaurateur Ted Kennedy was doing to honor the men, and women, in blue, and wanted to join in.
Tahoe Tot Spot will be offering free admission for children of law enforcement officers and deputies that day.

Kennedy, who on the ownership team of Base Camp Pizza, California Burger, Azul Latin Kitchen and now, the Lakeside Beach House, shows gratitude on a weekly basis. Those in uniform and teachers get a free meal at any of his four restaurants (police officers, sheriff's deputies, fire personnel, nurses and those on active duty).
"This is to thank them, and show that we appreciate their service," said Kennedy. "They are our local heroes."

Submitted by paula on Wed, 12/31/2014 - 11:41pmThe death of 19-year old Alyssa Byrne during the 2013 SnowGlobe event in South Lake Tahoe is still on people's minds, especially now that the temperatures have dropped into single digits with wind chills expected to take them down into negative figures.
Nick and Kadi Alfield wanted to do something this year in Byrne's memory, so they had a booth at SnowGlobe that not only charged cell phones but also gave away gloves, scarves and hats to attendees who were cold.
New Lake Tahoe restaurant's Latin cuisine star of ribbon cutting
Submitted by paula on Tue, 11/11/2014 - 8:25pmIf you haven't made it to Azul Latin Kitchen yet it may be time to schedule a visit for lunch, dinner or a cocktail. The decorations are the bar are very creative and homey, including furniture hanging on the wall and crates as the light fixtures.
Azul opened in the Heavenly Village several weeks ago but they just had their official ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony on November 7. Many people from the South Lake Tahoe business community stopped by to enjoy the food and drinks, many for the first time. A band played near the fire pit outside.
Memorial Saturday for legendary broadcaster, hellraiser and satirist Travus T. Hipp
Submitted by Editor on Thu, 05/24/2012 - 11:59amServices for legendary radio commentator Travus T. Hipp will be held this Saturday, May 26, in Silver City. Hipp died early Friday morning, May 18, at his Silver City home. He was 75, as old as the Golden Gate Bridge in his beloved San Francisco.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26, in Silver City. Gathering, gnoshing and remembering will begin at the Silver City Community Center, 385 High Street, at 10:00 a.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. Those who wish may bring more.
