Providing a basic need is a way to not only ease hunger but also uplifts the lives and well-being of those who are struggling. Wanting to take advantage of this opportunity to help others, the Tahoe Wellness Center partnered with Bread & Broth (B&B) and hosted the Monday Meal as the Adopt A Day sponsor on January 20.
City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Wellness Cooperative reach settlement
Submitted by paula on Tue, 04/02/2019 - 5:33pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An agreement has been reached between the City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Wellness Cooperative (TWC) after over two years of court proceedings between the two.
During the closed session portion of Tuesday's City Council meeting, the four councilmembers allowed to participate voted unanimously to accept the signed agreement between the City and TWC. Councilmember Cody Bass had to recuse himself from voting since he is the owner and president of TWC.
Cannabis ordinance may be in place in South Lake Tahoe by March 2019

Two versions of an ordinance were presented but neither passed muster in the eyes of the council and they hope to have one that addresses their issues come before them at their January 15, 2019 meeting.

Led by the City Council representatives Austin Sass and Brooke Laine, members of the original cannabis workgroup, Cody Bass and some members of the public, about two dozen in total, spent three hours trying to come up direction for the city attorney to use in creating a new ordinance.

These are all possible, and the desire of many entrepreneurs, but the South Lake Tahoe City Council wants regulations around the cannabis industry to be done correctly, and thus slowly, to prevent unseen issues that could arise as they develop the first ordinance for adult use cannabis in South Lake Tahoe.
Another step towards South Lake Tahoe cannabis ordinance
Submitted by paula on Wed, 03/28/2018 - 12:18pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There will be an ordinance regulating the retail sale of cannabis in South Lake Tahoe, that is certain, but when it will be in place is uncertain.
During a special meeting of the South Lake Tahoe City Council Tuesday afternoon and evening, several areas were discussed from zoning to processes, and many were narrowed down enough so the acting City Attorney, Sergio Rudin, can bring a draft back at the April 17 council meeting. If there are no major changes that document can be voted on as a "first reading" with an ordinance 30 days later.
Tahoe Wellness Cooperative given "breath of life"
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/27/2018 - 10:15pmTahoe Wellness Cooperative (TWC), the only medicinal marijuana collective in South Lake Tahoe, was given the boost they needed Tuesday during a special SLT City Council meeting.
Cody Bass, the nonprofit's executive director, has been unable to purchase many products for this business since retail sales of marijuana have been allowed in the state of California. Those businesses are now only allowed to sell to others with a license.
Special City Council meeting for cannabis ordinance discussion
Submitted by paula on Thu, 03/22/2018 - 7:23pmDuring Tuesday's City Council meeting, the upcoming commercial marijuana ordinance was slatted to be discussed, but Council voted to hold off since the normal agenda materials were not provided prior to the meeting to the public nor the Council.
On Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 4:00 p.m., the community is invited to participate in a special SLT Council meeting as the final touches are put on an cannabis ordinance that will control where sales can take place, what types of licenses can be issued, how products will be packaged and distributed among other points.
Tahoe Wellness Cooperative reopens after closing doors for two days

The 9:00 a.m. meeting in the council chambers at the Lake Tahoe Airport starts with the Administeration of Oath to Brooke Laine and Jason Collin and will be followed by a presentation by South Lake Tahoe Police Chief Brian Uhler on what the passage of Proposition 64 means for the city. He will be joined by others from Barton and the Drug Free Coalition who will discuss the implications on the community with increased access to marijuana.
County responds to search warrant served at Tahoe Wellness Cooperative

Staff from eight agencies spent hours at the South Lake Tahoe medical marijuana dispensary, pulling out boxes and containers of cannabis and records.
