Winter storm conditions continue at Lake Tahoe

A Winter Storm Warning continues until noon today and schools are closed in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District.

At the Nov. 1 South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting, there was a decision passed to use grant money from the state of California to purchase a new hybrid vehicle for use in the citywide recycling program.
The new Chevy Silverado hybrid is valued at $39,000, gets 20 miles to the gallon and will reduce emissions compared to the old truck currently in use. However, a lively discussion of whether the purchase would give the wrong impression regarding the city’s fiscal responsibility ensued.

Over the four years that the awards program has been in existence, community participation and support has increased annually by leaps and bounds. Lake Tahoe Unified School District Receives Report Card

The API Target is 800 or above. Overall, the district dropped one point from 2010 (781 to 780). Below are the detailed scores for each school:
The Magnet school dropped 4 points to 935 - However it is the highest score in all of El Dorado County.
Bijou went from 718 to 701, having made substantial gains from 689 in 2009.
Sierra House did well in gaining 13 points 813 to 836.
