Two men arrested after South Lake Tahoe high-speed chase

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Two men were arrested after they led officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) on a high-speed chase through the Tahoe Sierra neighborhood on Monday, June 15, 2020.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., SLTPD attempted to pull over a Chevy at the intersection of Black Bart Avenue and Pioneer Trail. Inside the vehicle were two suspects that had allegedly been seen with a weapon. According to police, the occupants were prohibited from being in possession of a gun.

South Lake Tahoe SWAT operation leads to arrest of local man

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Several people in the Bijou neighborhood saw and heard something on Thursday they normally aren't a witness to. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were called out to an apartment on Spruce Avenue to arrest a suspect with a known violent history and a history with weapons, according to police.

They were there to arrest 45-year-old Edgar Bringas Zavala, a suspect in a domestic violence and terrorist threat case from the night before.

County to ask Governor Newsom to allow their move into next stage of reopening

South Lake Tahoe robbery and car theft leads to arrest of two suspects near Fresh Pond

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Two different crimes in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday turned out to be related and the alleged suspects were arrested near Fresh Pond, California.

On May 20 at approximately 2:50 p.m., officers from South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to the 7-11 at 2620 Lake Tahoe Boulevard after receiving a call of a robbery. Upon arrival, the clerk told officers a man and a woman had walked into the store with black masks on, approached the counter where the female demanded money.

USFS beaches and sites around Lake Tahoe to remain closed through May 15

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A temporary closure order for USFS beaches and recreation sites around Lake Tahoe has been extended through at least May 15, 2020. The original order was set to expire May 1. To keep in alignment with current federal, state, and local guidance for social distancing, and to ensure the health and safety of its employees, visitors, and volunteers, it was extended.

Trailheads and trails outside of the orange areas of the attached maps, or the ones on the closure website, are not affected by this order but parking lots are closed.

El Dorado County supervisors add $1,000 fine for vacation home rental use in Lake Tahoe Basin

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to issue citations to anyone violating the ban on nonessential travel in the Lake Tahoe Basin as it pertains to the use of vacation home rentals (VHRs).

Anyone found using a VHR is subject to a $1,000 fine per day of violation.

USFS closures at spots around Lake Tahoe, not just SR89 corridor

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Earlier this week the USFS Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit announced all national forest recreation areas and sites in the South Shore Recreation Corridors were closed to the public with fines for individuals or groups disobeying the order.

They said the closures were to keep in alignment with current federal, state and local guidance for social distancing and to ensure the health and safety of its employees, visitors, and volunteers.

USFS closes South Shore Recreation areas: Up to $10,000 fine for violation of order

Campfire and smoking restrictions in Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is implementing fire restrictions earlier than usual this year to reduce the number of human-caused fires and reduce firefighter exposure to COVID-19 during the current pandemic. The Humboldt-Toiyabe will enact fire restrictions prohibiting campfires and smoking outside of vehicles starting on April 15 and going until May 31, or until rescinded.

Douglas County Sheriff: Parents and juveniles could be cited and fined for after hours activity

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s cooperation with Nevada Governor Sisloak's directive to "Stay at Home" and advising everyone to stay at home and to keep juveniles under close watch.

The Sheriff’s Office report an increase in juvenile activity after curfew hours away from their homes including their response to a late-night situation in the Pinenuts involving juveniles. Curfew in Douglas County is 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City of South Lake Tahoe issued an emergency order Friday morning, one that gives them the power to issue administrative citations to those who violate California Governor Newsom's 'stay at home' order.

“We are taking this crisis seriously and it is important that those who don’t, know there can be consequences to ignoring the Governor’s orders,” said Interim City Manager Brad Kilger, “This is about keeping our community safe, and that’s what this city is going to do.”

Three arrested in South Lake Tahoe on gun and theft charges

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Three local residents were arrested on March 9 on various gun and theft charges after being found asleep in a vehicle on the grounds of Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship.

At approximately 7:10 a.m., an alert officer from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) located a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the church located at 3580 Blackwood Avenue. The vehicle was occupied by two men and a woman, all who appeared to be sleeping.

Welcome to the ninth year summary of the SnowGlobe Music Festival. This is the first year the TRPA has done any monitoring and the event continues to violate TRPA’s pre-existing rules. We can add air pollution to the list of accomplishments for this event given the recent successful lawsuit by the Center for Environmental Health (CEH). Pair arrested in South Lake Tahoe when found in car stolen from Pleasanton

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Two men were arrested on Saturday night at the Ski Run Marina on suspicion of driving a stolen automobile.

The Pleasanton, California police called the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) on January 11 to advise them that a car stolen in their town had a tracking device that placed it in South Lake Tahoe.
