SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Every year Vail Resort provides funding through their EpicPromise Grant program to non-profit organizations in communities where their ski resorts are located. In addition to awarding funds for the Bread and Broth 4 Kids’ program, Bread & Broth (B&B) also received $3,600 for Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort to share the hosting of 12 Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsorships throughout 2023.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - One thousand two hundred American flags were presented to Happy Homestead Cemetery Thursday by John Keeley and Troy Stromoen of the Rno Vet Center and Dan Browne of the Lake Tahoe Veterans Alliance.

These flags will be used to honor those who have fallen in service to the country, deceased Veterans, and living military veterans.

"The cost of freedom is steep, and all those who answered the call, a new flag will be placed where they now rest," said Dan Browne, president of the Lake Tahoe Veterans Alliance. "All gave some - some gave all."

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - “This is our second time this year volunteering at Bread and Broth and we love that we are giving back to our beautiful community,” shared Andrea King, a Realtor at the Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty’s South Lake Tahoe office. Joining Andrea from Sierra Sotheby’s was Ellen Camacho, the office’s managing broker, and Kathy Hyde, the office administrator. This Adopt A Day of Nourishment crew hosted B&B’s Monday Meal at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall on May 1.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The popular Attic Thrift Store in South Lake Tahoe will be closing in June. Barton Health, the owner of the store, said they will soon have the property up for sale and will be refocusing its structure to better meet the needs of the community.

The Barton Auxiliary opened the thrift store in 1961, and since has raised millions of dollars to support South Lake Tahoe and the hospital through grants, scholarships, equipment, and at the beginning, paying the doctors.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Soroptimist Stadium: Home of Girls Softball at the South Tahoe Middle School got a spring clean on Saturday, May 13 thanks to volunteers from Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe (SISLT) and the help of generous community members. Volunteers cleaned bleachers, swept pathways, raked rodent tracks, removed garbage, and picked up and bagged about 50 bags of pinecones and needles.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - On Friday, May 19, 2023, members of the California Highway Patrol South Lake Tahoe office, South Lake Tahoe Police Department, El Dorado County Sheriff, and community members will come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, have coffee, and build relationships.

All community members are invited to attend. The event goes from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Cuppa Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe. They are located in the Crossing at Tahoe Valley, 2054 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The community turned out for the 6th annual Wildfire Safety Expo on Saturday at South Tahoe Middle School, hosted by South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR).

Activities and information filled the booths that lined the school's parking lot which was also filled with first responder and agency vehicles.

As wildfire behavior progressively becomes more ferocious, learning how to live in a mountain town is important. This means everyone needs to be extra vigilant with preparedness.

The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program is currently seeking dedicated volunteer drivers for the County’s Home Delivered Meals program. Each volunteer generally works one day per week on an assigned route, delivering meals between 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Potential new volunteer drivers are invited to learn more by attending a one-hour Volunteer Driver Orientation session on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Placerville Senior Center, 937 Spring Street, Placerville.

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) has announced its Spring Giving Tuesday campaign set for May 16, 2023. HSTT’s goal on Giving Tuesday, and every other day of the year, is to make the world a better place for pets and people with the helping hands of the community.

The night provides parents and families of special needs children to gather to share, support, connect and celebrate. The evening is for the whole family and there is free pizza for the kids.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With the largest provider of tuxedo and suit rentals in South Lake Tahoe closed due to storm damage, many students at South Tahoe High School (STHS) were wondering what to do for prom.

Sidestreet Boutique will be on the STHS campus to take measurements on May 8, 9, 11, and 12 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., and May 10 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Orders can be made at that time. Then, tuxedos and suits can be paid for and picked up on May 16 and 18 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and May 17 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Returns will be May 22-23 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tahoe WordWave is the culmination of an annual one-act play writing competition. The best three submissions will be selected from more than 100 entries and presented as full productions each night at the event. The playwrights are invited to attend the event to see their play come to life on the stage. During the audience question and answer period they will discuss the circumstances and social influences that led them to write the play, as well as their feelings seeing it performed on the Boathouse Theatre stage!

The Tahoe iMPRoV Comedy Players celebrate their 30th anniversary with a return to their roots. Each show this season will start with a Comedy Sportz matchup. This portion of the show will be structured just like when the player's improv journey began in 1993.
