Thanks to their AAD donation of $300 and sending an excellent sponsor crew to the Monday Meal dinner, over 74 dinners were served to the very grateful folks who came for a hot and tasty meal and the bags of food provided to those who join Bread & Broth's (B&B) weekly meal for dinner.

South Tahoe Middle School Club Live clears fire hydrants

Club Live is a school club that encourages kids to lead a healthy lifestyle. During meetings Club Live often will have a game to get everyone up, moving, and socializing. The club also teaches kids about the threat of smoking, vaping, and drinking irresponsibly.
So, why did Club Live clear fire hydrants around the school?

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Learn about opioids, fentanyl, signs of an overdose, and how to use Narcan at the next meeting of the Tahoe Alliance for Safe Kids (TASK). They will be meeting on Thursday, March 16 at 3:30 p.m. in the South Tahoe High School Student Union meeting room.
Shannon Decker of the Speedy Foundation will present a 30-45 minute program and training on the use of Narcan, fentanyl test strips, and other important information. The community is invited to attend.
Go Fund Me fundraiser set up for 2015 South Tahoe High grad Luke Garratt

The 26-year-old is now recovering in the Los Angeles area after having a stroke followed by open heart surgery. He is facing 4-6 months of physical therapy at a skilled nursing center to regain his strength back.
Tahoe Douglas Fire Union holding St. Baldrick's Brave the Shave fundraiser

Angela was recently diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma and all proceeds at the event will go towards her beating this rare but highly aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

This is a fundraiser and the cost for adults is $15, and for kids ages 5 - 12 $10.

Longtime staff member named interim director of Tahoe Youth & Family Services

Cheyanne began working for TYFS in 2006 and has filled many roles during her tenure. Most recently, she has served as the agency's Supportive Services manager focusing on homeless intervention and prevention services to ensure that unaccompanied minors and homeless young adults in our community have a voice and are represented.
Christmas Cheer to remain closed Wednesday, hope to open doors Thursday

Volunteers wanted to get the word out to the public so those who use the food bank won't attempt to go out in the snow.
They are scheduled to be open on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bread & Broth Monday meal canceled due to storm

It isn't often the group cancels meals, but for the safety of guests and volunteers, the non-profit won't serve this Monday.
On Friday, their Second Serving meal at Lake Tahoe Presbyterian Church is still planned.

Slow Food Tahoe benefits from spring Truckee-Tahoe Salmon Buying Club

Previously only offered in the early fall, this additional pick-up date allows locals to replenish their supply of the healthy omega-rich protein more frequently with a significant club discount. Order a 20 lb. box of filets ($14.99/lb) or portions ($15.99/lb) for your own freezer, or share with a friend. Ordering closes on March 15. Boxes will be available for pick up in the Truckee River Regional Park on April 1.

Tahoe Fund receives $187,000 in dollar donations from guests of Vail Resorts

By donating a dollar when purchasing online lift tickets, season passes, lodging, and rounds of golf over the past twelve months, guests at these Vail Resorts locations have raised more than $187,000 for the Tahoe Fund to support environmental improvement projects in the Tahoe Basin.

Douglas County opens 2023-24 Community Grant grant program for non-profits

Volunteer drivers needed for South Lake Tahoe Senior Nutrition program
Submitted by paula on Sat, 02/18/2023 - 10:48amThe El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program in South Lake Tahoe continues to have a great need for community volunteer drivers to help deliver lunchtime meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents. The meals are prepared by the Senior Nutrition Program and the volunteers deliver those meals.
Most volunteers are asked to help one day a week, though more is appreciated. Drivers cover an assigned route, delivering meals between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., starting at the Senior Center in South Lake Tahoe.
WNC nursing students thankful for job fair

Instead of visiting potential employers for job interviews, the hospitals and healthcare facilities came to them this week for WNC Nursing Program's annual Job Fair.
But that was only part of the three-hour event in the Cedar Building. One hundred Registered Nursing (RN) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students also received professional development information and advice as well.

Tahoe Women's Community Fund offers $100,000 in grants to local nonprofits

Nonprofits that serve the South Shore of Lake Tahoe are eligible to apply.
The focus and impact grants are set for specific areas of need that were voted on by members. The areas of need for these grants much match the focus of the projects in the applications received. They can be found in the photo above, or on the website www.tahoewomenscommunityfund.org.
Businesses sought for inaugural student job fair in South Lake Tahoe

The Tahoe Learning Haven is looking for 20 businesses to participate in a student job fair on Wednesday, May 10 at the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe. The fair is for teens ages 14-18. It will be from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The students will be prepared with resumes and will be motivated and ready to interview. They will be prepared and ready to WOW business owners!
Organizers will have work permits to complete at the event.
10th annual Noble Deeds to award $200,000 in digital services to Nevada non-profit

To date, Noble Studios has given more than $1 million in promotional benefits. Organizations ranging from national park foundations to environmental causes, museums, education, and fair housing have been part of the “Noble Deeds” program since 2013.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe (SISLT) is launching a series of workshops to educate the South Lake Community on various topics impacting the status of women including wage discrepancy, equal access to healthcare, right to family leave, right to child care, equal funding for women sports (Title IX), and Advocacy 101.
The first workshop, Advocacy 101, will be focused on how to be an advocate. It will be held at the South Lake Tahoe library on Wednesday, March 15 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Ski Run Boulevard will be closed once again for the event as people celebrate the mountain culture, beer, and community along the roadway. Besides beer, there will be music, food trucks, and local vendors.

The "Twosday Morning" Program at Kahle Community Center is back! Every Tuesday until June 6 from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. this program will be held at Kahle Community Center for children from birth to preschool age. The cost is $5 per child.
This program is designed for young children who would like to spend one morning a week in the company of their peers enjoying structured and spontaneous playful experiences including creative art and optional circle time.

Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra holding 2nd annual Meat Raffle

With the support of Victor Gomez, the new owner of the popular butcher shop, Kiwanis will give the winner one of three $300 packs (see the choices here https://overlandmeatco.com/family-packs/).
The donation for raffle tickets is $5 for one entry, or six for $25.
There is a second-place prize this year, a $200 food certificate to Cierra Steak and Chop House inside Bally's Lake Tahoe.

Buy a commemorative ski patrol pint glass for $15 and get a free refill.
The Heavenly Ski Patrol Fund is a long-time Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe supporter and proceeds from the event will go to support the nonprofit helping animals all around Lake Tahoe.
