World Book Night Shares the Love of Reading in South Lake Tahoe

The South Lake Tahoe community was treated to 320 free books on Wednesday night as part of World Book Night.

Volunteers from Friends of the Library gave books out at beaches, bus stops, the El Dorado County Food Bank truck, recreation center, Senior Center, Juvenile Treatment Center, Tahoe Senior Plaza and various other places around town. They announced on Facebook that they were heading out, but didn't disclose locations until after the books were distributed.

"We enjoyed reaching out to others in our community by sharing a special book," said volunteer Lynne Brosch.

World Book Night (www.us.worldbooknight.org) is an annual celebration dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person. Each year on April 23rd tens of thousands of people go out into their communities and give half a million free World Book Night paperbacks to light and non-readers.
