South Lake Tahoe ski, snowboard and weather report for Friday

The following is the ski, snowboard and weather report for Friday, January 8, 2016 for South Lake Tahoe brought to you by Lake Tahoe SkiBum.

Weather - South Lake Tahoe will have a high of 35 and a low tonight of 24. Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 35. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Tonight: Snow showers after 10pm. Low around 24. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Heavenly - Packed Powder. No New Snow in last 24 hours. 100% of their terrain is now open which means 4800 acres, 23 lifts and 97 runs are open. Base depth is 68". Terrain Parks open - Terrain Parks open - Groove (13 features) High Roller (16 features) including the Family Cross course. Lift status. Scattered snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Message from Heavenly: No new snow overnight but we received 7" over the past 3 days! Today will be a beautiful day with partly sunny skies, light W winds, and a high near 26°. Please note: North Bowl and Boulder Lifts are closed for the day.
Weather permitting; 23 lifts are scheduled to spin from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm giving access to all 97 trails, of which 50% were freshly groomed overnight. Our groomers trail picks of the day are Double Down in CA and Cosmic Wave in NV!

Sierra-at-Tahoe - Packed Powder. No new snow. 100% of the terrain is now open. 9 lifts are open. Burton Progressive, Bashful and Upper Snowshoe pipes are open. Groomed conditions on 31 of their open 45 runs. Base depth is 48" to 85". Lift status. Partly sunny, with a high near 29. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Kirkwood - Powder/Packed Powder. No new snow. 100% of the mountain terrain is open with 2300 acres, 12 lifts and 86 runs. 78" base. Lift status. Partly sunny, with a high near 28. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Facebook message from Kirkwood: Just a trace of new snow in the past 24hrs with 10” over the past 48hrs, 23” over the past 7days… Total snow fall for the season just crossing 221” season to date. New snow accumulations for Friday night through 6 AM Saturday look to be around 1”-2” inches at the base, with 2-3 at the ridge. Additional accumulations through the day Saturday will be 3”-5” inches at the base, with 4”-6” inches at the ridge. Winds look to remain relatively light through Saturday, holding W-SW around 5-15 MPH, with a slight increase to 10-20 MPH on Saturday.
