The following is the ski, snowboard and weather report for Tuesday, January 5, 2016 for South Lake Tahoe brought to you by Lake Tahoe SkiBum.

Weather - Winter Weather Advisory through 4:00 p.m., Winter Storm Watch January 6 10:00 a.m. to January 7 4:00 a.m. South Lake Tahoe will have a high of 35 and a low tonight of 21. Today: Snow. High near 35. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Tonight: Snow likely before 10pm, then a chance of snow showers between 10pm and 4am, then a chance of snow after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 21. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Heavenly - Packed Powder. No New Snow in last 24 hours. 99% of their terrain is now open which means 4750 acres, 23 lifts and 96 runs are open. The base depth is 63". Terrain Parks open - Groove (13 features) High Roller (12 features) & Family Cross (9 features) Lift status.Snow. High near 27. Very windy, with a south wind 50 to 55 mph decreasing to 40 to 45 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 80 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Message from Heavenly: Please note: North Bowl and Boulder Lifts are closed for the day. Also, Boulder lodge will only be open on the weekends/holidays. Today's forecast is calling for 100% chance of snow, with a high near 27. Today's storm is expected to bring very strong winds, so please stay tuned, as lift operations may be impacted. Weather permitting; 23 lifts are scheduled to spin from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm giving access to over 90 trails, of which nearly 50% were freshly groomed overnight. Our groomers trail picks of the day are Mombo in CA and Big Dipper in NV!.

Sierra-at-Tahoe - Packed Powder. 2" new snow. 100% of the terrain is now open. 9 lifts are open. Burton Progressive, Bashful and Upper Snowshoe pipes are open. Groomed conditions on 31 of their open 45 runs. Base depth is 38". Lift status. Snow before 11am, then snow showers after 11am. High near 31. South wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Kirkwood - Packed Powder. 3" new snow. 100% of the mountain terrain is open with 2300 acres, 12 lifts and 86 runs. 68" base. Lift status. Snow before 10am, then snow showers after 10am. Temperature falling to around 26 by 5pm. South wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

We will have early temporary wind-holds in effect as reported by the Mtn. team on Chairs 4,6 &10… Winds are forecast to drop significantly but, (caveat insert) we will need to wait watch and see… Chairs, 1,2,3,5,7,9 & 11 + the two magic carpets are scheduled @9am. NWS forecast for the day is ‘SNOW’ with temperatures falling to around 26, South winds dropping into the 11 to 13mph range. 6” to 10” inches is very possible. SR88 both Carson Pass & Spur have R1 chain controls Ham Stations to Pickett’s Junction.
