Road closures around Lake Tahoe; Fatal crash on Hwy 50 near Placerville closes road

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The roads are a mess around the Lake Tahoe Basin, with SR-89 around Emerald Bay and SR-88 near Kirkwood closed due to conditions.

There was a fatal traffic collision in the eastbound lanes of US50 about three miles east of Placerville at Camino Heights Drive, closing all lanes for a few hours. CHP in Placerville posted this on their Facebook page - "CHP Placerville is currently working a serious collision on US-50 near Camino Heights. Please avoid the area. We will not be posting descriptions or details at this time. We request the same discretion from our followers. A press release will be completed and released when appropriate."
