Lake Tahoe storm closes college and schools

The blizzard warnings in the Lake Tahoe basin have prompted school officials to close schools, or in the case of Douglas County, put them on late start.

Lake Tahoe Unified School District is on a Snow Day. All Schools Will be CLOSED today due to the Blizzard Warning issued by the National Weather Service.

Lake Tahoe Community College is on a Snow Day. "A blizzard warning is in effect for most of the day, with worsening conditions expected. Given the possibility of whiteout conditions, strong winds, and potentially very hazardous driving conditions, the college determined that closure was the right call for the safety of our students, staff and faculty.

Douglas County Schools - main bus stops only for all LAKE schools (ZCES, GWHS). These stops are designated as:

The corner of Tina Court and Ski Court for students living in the Tramway and Kingsbury Village area:

WHS - Bus will arrive at 6:40 a.m. and depart at 7:05 a.m.
ZCES - Bus will arrive at 7:57 a.m. and depart at 8:20 a.m.

Glenbrook area will board at the entrance to Glenbrook
WHS - Bus will arrive at 6:32 a.m.
ZCES - Bus will arrive at 7:36 a.m.

Tahoe Truckee School District is on a snow day. Based on the Blizzard Warning issued by the National Weather Service starting at 8:00 a.m., today, Thursday, March 1, 2018 is a snow day. All schools are closed. Additionally, all offices are closed today. Only transportation fleet maintenance, custodial, maintenance, technology, and certain facilities staff members should try to report to work. Contact your supervisor if you have questions about reporting to work.

Incline Village Schools are on a snow day.

Sierra Nevada College is closed due to snow.
