Snow blankets the Lake Tahoe Basin, finally

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It has been a while since Lake Tahoe has experienced measurable snowfall. The promised winter weather arrived overnight, with 8" of snow reported at the South Shore of Lake Tahoe by Sunday morning. Area ski resorts are reporting 4"-12" and Reno and the Carson Valley, due to some lake-effect snow, had 5"-7".

Even as the storm exits, expect wind as a new Lake Wind Advisory has been issued from noon on Sunday to 4:00 a.m. Monday.

Conditions will be improving during the day. The high will be near 30 with a chance of another 1"-3". Winds from the northeast will be 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Sunday night's forecast is partly cloudy, with a low around 12. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
