South Lake Tahoe to hold city-wide 4th of July parade

Event Date:
July 4, 2016 - 10:00am

The annual 4th of July parade in South Lake Tahoe has undergone changes and will be organized by the City of South Lake Tahoe this year.

In honor of the local American Legion Post 795, the parade will feature everyone, from vets to clubs, kids and organizations. The Legion will also serve as the parade marshals.

The City is encouraging parade participants to build floats representing their businesses/ organizations. A parade participant application and more information on the parade is online at www.cityofslt.us/4thofJulyParade.

A GoFundMe account has been established to raise funds for the SLT American legion Post 795 at www.gofundme.com/LegionPost795. The American Legion Post 795 is in dire need of updating and is a small post of 94 members. Post 795 is one of three Posts’ in California that own their own building and land. They are currently in need of new carpet, new kitchen, new roof, chimney repair, and remodeling. The Veterans of South Lake Tahoe really appreciate the support the community has given them over the years.

The parade will begin at the 'Y' and will proceed east on Highway 50, turn right onto Al Tahoe Blvd. and end at Bijou Community Park. The parade will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m..
