SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Over 75 float and vehicle entries as well as over 200 walkers will be participating in the 2nd annual City of South Lake Tahoe's 4th of July parade.

The July 4 parade will start at 10:00 a.m. at the "Y," where Highways 50 and 89 intersect, and follow Highway 50 to Al Tahoe Boulevard and end at Bijou Park where a family friendly After Party will take place immediately following the conclusion of the parade. There will be a BBQ at the party with all proceeds going to the American Legion.

The annual parade will honor local veterans and the American Legion will serve as the parade marshals.

Local on-air personality Howie Nave of KRLT’s hit show "Howie’s Morning Rush" and host at The Improv at Harveys will be Host/Emcee for the parade and will be announcing in front of Lake Tahoe Unified District school bus garage on Al Tahoe Blvd. across from Rite Aid which will provide the perfect viewing location of the parade. The parade will be pausing in front of the bus garage and viewers are encouraged to bring their chairs and watch the parade from this prime location.

Parade participants are to be in formation by 9:00 a.m. on Highway 89. The parade will also be live streamed online at www.tahoeweathercam.com as a courtesy of the Tahoe Weather Cam and Community Ink Network. Be sure to register and activate your account in advance.

Motorists can expect delays from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the two eastbound lanes of Highway 50 from the “Y” to Al Tahoe Blvd. as there will be a “rolling closure” for the parade. The two westbound lanes of Highway 50 from Stateline to the “Y” will remain open. Motorists are to except traffic to be slow and we encourage motorists to utilize Pioneer Trail during and immediately following the parade.

A GoFundMe account has been established to raise funds for the local American Legion Post 795 at www.gofundme.com/LegionPost795. The American Legion Post 795 is in need of updating and is a small post of 94 members. Post 795 is one of three Posts’ in California that own their own building and land.
