Marine Marching Band to be in South Lake Tahoe 4th of July parade

The City of South Lake Tahoe is honored to announce the Marine Band San Diego Marching Band will be in the 4th of July Parade on Wednesday, July 4th at 10:00 a.m. The parade will be immediately followed by a celebratory BBQ benefiting local American Legion Post 795 and performances by the Marine Band San Diego. The BBQ and performances will be held at Bijou Community Park located at 1201 Al Tahoe Blvd.

“We are in awe and so incredibly grateful for the US Marine Band Unit out of San Diego to honor our community with their nationally appreciated performances. This is going to be an amazing event for South Lake Tahoe,” said SLT Mayor Wendy David.

For nearly a century, Marine Band San Diego has thrilled countless audiences throughout the country with its inspiring renditions of patriotic music, classical literature, Big Band and Top 40 favorites, and of course, the marches of John Philip Sousa.

The primary mission of Marine Band San Diego is to provide musical support for military and civic ceremonies. In addition, the fifty Marines of the band perform in several different ensembles: concert band, marching band, brass quintet, woodwind quintet, jazz combo, rock band, and brass band.

Marine Band San Diego is under the leadership of Warrant Officer Alex Panos, Band Officer, and Master Gunnery Sergeant Brian Paradis, Bandmaster.

Today, the band is led on the march by Staff Sergeant Bryan Williams, Drum Major; and is under the direction of Gunnery Sergeant Francisco Gaxiola, Enlisted Conductor.

Local on-air personality Howie Nave of KRLT’s hit show "Howie’s Morning Rush" and host at The Improv at Harvey’s will be Host/Emcee for the parade and will be announcing from the Rite Aid parking lot on Al Tahoe Blvd. which will provide the perfect viewing location of the parade.

The parade will begin at the corner of Ski Run Boulevard and Highway 50 at 10:00 a.m. and travel westbound to Al Tahoe Boulevard and conclude at Bijou Community Park off of Al Tahoe Blvd. Best spots for parade attendees will be along the eastbound lanes of the road as both directions of traffic will be flowing along the westbound lanes.
