Viking Corner: This Week at South Tahoe High

Students at South Tahoe High School returned from a week-long Spring Break tanned and ready for the final two months before summer. This week was quiet as students prepared for the Black Light Dance, prom, AP testing, and the baseball team played at Reno Ace’s stadium.

On Campus
The Black Light Dance will be held on April 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Union. Students dress up and paint themselves to match the theme. A surprise student DJ will be featured, so bring your glow sticks, Vikings.

Prom takes place on June 1 at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort. Students are searching for the right dresses and ties. Soon we will see start to see so-called “promposals,” an extravagant gesture to ask someone to the dance.

Yesterday, freshmen and juniors took an important survey, Healthy Kids Survey, to gather data for the California Department of Education.

In Athletics
Varsity baseball (13-5) beat Dayton (1-17) 5-2 on Monday at Greater Nevada Field, the home of the Triple-A Reno Aces. Their next game is today at Fernley High School (5-13) at 10 a.m.

Track has a two-day invitational this weekend at Carson High School.

Varsity boys’ golf earned second place, with a score of 356, at Spring Creek Golf Course on Wednesday.
