Viking Corner: This Week at South Tahoe High

This week at South Tahoe High School, students had to put their jackets back on, as the weather cooled down. A trio of students will take turns acting as student council president, and a 13-year-old partnership on the baseball pitch comes to an end.

On Campus
Students attended Industry Day on Tuesday to learn about different careers. They heard presentations from a range of companies, including the nutrition department and rehabilitation center of Barton Memorial Hospital.

Three juniors are taking over the student council next year, hoping to make 2020 a fun year for the graduating class. Maile McDaniel, Bella Spina and Chris Dore will be rotating positions of president, vice president and treasurer/secretary.

In Athletics
Boys golf hosted this week’s match at the Genoa Ranch Golf Course on Wednesday. The team finished with a score of 351.

The swim team has their next meet on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Carson Aquatic Center.

Senior games for baseball and softball are played Saturday.

Varsity baseball (15-9) host Churchill County (16-8) on Friday at 2 p.m. at the South Tahoe Babe Ruth baseball field. The Senior game is on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Varsity softball (2-13) plays Churchill County (11-5) in a doubleheader on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the STHS softball field. Eliminated from the playoff race, this is the final Vikings softball game of the season.

Senior and Vikings softball infielder Teagan Williamson is looking forward to playing with her teammates in her final high school game. Teagan plans to attend San Diego Mesa College in the fall, continuing her softball career in Southern California.

Growing up playing baseball together in South Tahoe for the past 13 years, seniors Cameron Johnson and Kevin Lehmann take the pitch for a final home game this weekend.
