Lake Tahoe area roadwork schedule July 3 - July 9

NOTE: Most traffic-interfering work will be restricted until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 due to the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

SPECIAL EVENT

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the “Y” at Lake Tahoe Boulevard and State Route 89 North to Rufus Allen Boulevard: Motorists can expect a moving closure of both lanes from 10 a.m. to Noon Monday July 4 for the City of South Lake Tahoe 4th of July parade.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $70.1 million project from Tahoma to just north of Granlibakken Road in Tahoe City that is upgrading storm water drainage and treatment systems, adding curb and gutter, resurfacing and realigning the road, adding new left-turn pockets and widening shoulders on an 8-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected by summer 2017.

July 5-8 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from Sugar Pine Road to Ward Creek and from Pine Avenue to to Cathedral Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday through Friday for roadway excavation and drainage work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $13 million water quality improvement project from Cascade Road to just north of the Eagle Falls Viaduct over Emerald Bay. The project is constructing new drainage facilities to treat stormwater runoff and repaving a four-mile section of the highway. Completion is expected in summer 2017.

July 6-8 - State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Cascade Road to Eagle Point Campground: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 2 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Thursday and 2 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday for drainage work and shoulder excavation.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $25 million project from the "Y" junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks will be added in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side. Drainage systems are also being built and the roadway is being resurfaced. Completion is expected this fall.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. Highway work includes installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements. July 5-8 - State Route 28 (Placer County) from Beach Avenue to Deer Street: Westbound motorists can expect shoulder closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday through Friday for utility work. Eastbound motorists can expect shoulder closures from Fox Street to Beaver Street from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday for utility work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Upper Truckee River/Elks Club Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 - Eastbound (El Dorado County) from 4th Street to 2nd Street: Motorists can expect overnight median and left lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday through Friday morning for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Truckee Drive to River Drive and from Trout Creek to Tulare Avenue in South Lake Tahoe: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect lane restrictions around the clock from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 p.m. Friday for gas line relocation work. Closures may be picked up earlier on Friday depending on traffic.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from 12th Street to Pope Beach Road: Motorists can expect right lane and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for curb/gutter/sidewalk work.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Agatam Avenue to Burton Creek Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for grinding and paving work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from at Schnell School Road in Placerville: Westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday and eastbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Friday for bridge work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at Rock Creek Road: Motorists can expect long-term signalized one-way traffic control for emergency repair work, which is scheduled to be completed in July.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at the South Fork American River/Chili Bar: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for bridge work.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Northstar Drive to Brockway Summit: Motorists can expect intermittent one-way traffic control at various locations around the clock from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 7 p.m. Friday for utility work.
