Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care opens their doors for annual tours

Event Date:
August 4, 2018 - 10:30am

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - For 40 years, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care (LTWC) has been serving the South Lake Tahoe Community, and on Saturday, August 4 they are holding their annual Open House and opening up their doors to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This is the one time a year the general public can walk the grounds where wild birds and animals are being rehabilitated prior to their release back into the wild.

Trained LTWC volunteers will be on hand to guide people through the grounds, describe the reasons the wildlife are the center, and what their prognosis is for eventual release back into the wild.

The non-profit will also be showing renderings of their new facility on Al Tahoe Blvd.

Retail items will be available, including Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care T-shirts and hats, posters, LTWC license plate holders and magnets along with LTWC ‘and’ Li’l Smokey lapel pins. Donations will also be accepted.

Most of the wildlife will be on their new and improved closed circuit “BEAR TV”. There are now 18 cameras so people can watch them as they play in their little world. Each cage will have a monitor outside so attendees can better see the wildlife inside.

LTWC is located at 1485 Cherry Hills Circle, off Elks Club Drive in Meyers, just three blocks from where the Elks Club used to be.
