SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) received a call of shots fired near the corner of Julie Lane and B Street Thursday evening. Upon arrival, officers discovered that 23-year-old Henry Flores Rojas had allegedly used a baseball bat on the windows of a car where his ex-girlfriend and their one-year-old child were seeking safety.
Earlier, the ex-girlfriend and the couple's baby had arrived at the home they used to share with Flores Rojas on Julie and B to get her belongings. The car that brought them to the home waited outside. The ex-boyfriend arrived and became angry so she jumped out of the house through a window, holding her baby. The suspect then grabbed her by the hair and started to drag both mother and child back into the house, according to SLTPD Sgt. Nick Carlquist.
The person driving the car got out and tried to help the woman and baby but Flores Rojas threatened them with a bat, then started beating the car with it. The ex-girlfriend ran into the car with her baby to escape, but the suspect allegedly then started breaking windows with the bat, spraying the occupants with glass.
Carlquist said the reports of shots fired were actually the car glass breaking. No firearms were found on the suspect or in the area.
Police arrived and were able to arrest Flores Rojas at the scene.
The woman was treated for cuts suffered from the breaking glass but the baby was unharmed.
Flores Rojas has been booked into the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe. He is facing charges of Vandalism, False Imprisonment, Child Endangerment, Criminal Threats, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping and Domestic Violence, all felonies. His bail is currently set at $185,000.
The home this incident took place at was the same one where Roy Figaro lived before being charged with murdering 44-year-old Christopher Kitchen outside the Tahoe Verde Mobile Home Park on Julie Lane.
Carlquist said Figaro and Flores Rojas are not related.
