Trustee Ginger Nicolay-Davis resigns from school board, opens up Area 2 seat

For reasons unknown, Lake Tahoe Unified School District Trustee Ginger Nicolay-Davis has resigned from the board position she has held since December, 2014.

During their monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 23, the LTUSD board will officially announce the opening on the board and their intent to appoint a new trustee who must reside in Trustee Area #2.

Nicolay-Davis resigned effective August 9.

The person appointed will hold the position until the November election in 2018. Any person, regardless of sex, who is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and who is not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office, is eligible to be elected or appointed a member of a governing board of a school district without further qualifications.

Those interested may pick up applications at the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Education Center at 1021 Al Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe or online at www.ltusd.org, or contact Shannon Chandler, Secretary to the Board of Education at (530) 541-2850.

Applications are due by Friday, September 16, 2016 by 4:30 p.m.

Three other trustee seats are open, the one currently held by Adam Jones who was appointed in March of 2015 to fill Sue Novasel's seat, and the ones currently held by two-time incumbents Dr. Michael Doyle and Dr. Larry Green. Jones and Green are not running for re-election. Board President Barbara Bannar is the only current trustee that will not be campaigning for a seat this November.
